We engaged Halrich Homes to undertake a complete renovation of our 1450 sq.ft. condo in a high-rise at the east end of Vancouver’s False Creek. The renovation took the suite down to the metal studs and concrete floor and ceiling structure. It also included replacing all finishes and fixtures, plus the piping and most of the wiring within the unit.We worked closely with a young interior designer for the overall renovation design, through preparation of permit drawings, while subsequent more detailed and technical design decisions were discussed and finalized with Halrich.Throughout the 8+ month construction phase of work on our project, we had very good communication with Rick, Drew and their sub trades. And we very much appreciated their willingness to respond to our special requests, by coming up with creative buildable options.In addition to being very competent, knowledgeable and proficient, the Halrich owners, staff and sub-trades were all very pleasant. They were also conscientious in adhering to the strata’s renovation-related rules re: noise, security and the cleanliness of common areas.Bottom line, Halrich’s workmanship was of the highest quality, and the end result of their work fully met our expectations. My husband and I purchased a never-before-renovated apartment in the Kits neighbourhood that dated back to 1977. While it had a lot of charm (who doesn’t love burnt orange countertops in the kitchen, dark chestnut cabinetry, chocolate brown plumbing fixtures and foil floral wallpaper in the bathroom?!) and it was in perfect condition, it didn’t suit our needs with respect to a large enough kitchen space and overall layout that would be conducive for entertaining.Rick and Drew were the first and only contractors that we met with: upon our first meeting, we were struck by their confidence, vision, and positive energy and we knew we wanted to work with them right away! Throughout the renovation process, they were both very communicative and provided us with frequent status updates and we were impressed with their ability to navigate unforeseen challenges and problem solve efficiently and effectively.Our project included demolition, installing new millwork in the kitchen and bathroom, new engineered hardwood floors, new appliances and new closet systems/doors.
