We rented with North Prairie Developments and had an excellent experience from start to finish. Their properties are consistently very clean, well-maintained, and feel almost like new every time. It’s clear they take pride in maintaining a high standard across their rentals. The quality and condition of the units were impressive, and the overall environment was comfortable and well cared for. Their team was professional, organized, and easy to deal with throughout our rental experience, which made the process smooth and stress-free.It’s refreshing to see such consistency in quality and service. We had a very positive experience overall and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and well-managed rental.
We began noticing a strong cucumber-like odor in our infant son’s room. After investigating, we traced the source to a window above the veranda. When we opened the wall, we found the vapor barrier had been sliced down approximately 65% of the side of the window, with visible moisture accumulation along the bottom and mold growth around the window area.We contacted North Prairie and were told the issue was outside the one-year warranty period and therefore not their responsibility. We explained that this was not normal wear, but a clear workmanship issue, as the vapor barrier damage was hidden behind finished trim and only became apparent years later. The response we received was that the home passed the vapor barrier inspection, so no action was required. We pointed out that vapor barrier inspections occur before drywall and trim installation, and that the damage most likely occurred during those later stages of construction. The final response from North Prairie was that we were free to pay for any expenses incurred ourselves. We then contacted a fire and flood restoration contractor to assess the situation. The first thing they asked us was whether we had contacted the builder, as the condition of the vapor barrier and moisture intrusion “did not look right” from a construction standpoint. We were disappointed by the lack of accountability for what appears to be a construction defect that was not reasonably discoverable by a homeowner and only surfaced once moisture conditions revealed it.
Our experience with North Prairie has shown us that they prioritize cutting corners over treating residents honestly or respectfully. Unfortunately the way they handle communication and planning feels deceptive and careless.During a flooring replacement earlier this week, we were first told everything in our unit would remain usable- but the fumes from the bonding were overwhelming, the entire main floor was unable to be used and we eventually had to vacate our property. When we raised concerns, they turned the blame around on us, saying things like maybe we just have increased sensitivities or just don’t know how a flooring replacement works. The contractors themselves were fine; the issue was entirely with how North Prairie handled the situation. We are frustrated at the amount of communication it took to receive any consideration from them, and that they never apologized in a way that took responsibility. It’s clear North Prairie cuts costs at the expense of honesty, comfort, and basic decency. I would strongly caution anyone from renting or buying from them.
I would recommend North Prairie for not only they're good builders but comparatively they've good options in different layout of interiors. Also their engineering layout is great, utilizing every space available resulting to spacious living rooms. Service team has been great as well, resolving the issue the very next day almost!
This review is not about the quality of the home they built but the type of contractors that they hire. This individual not only was going over 80 km per hour in a 50 zone to try to cut off another car. He was aggressive, violent, threatening in his conduct. His behaviour put the lives of others at risk and his attitude was absolutely nauseating and unprofessional. I’m not sure which company hires him directly but he is a subtrade of this builder and thus they should be mindful of who represents them and their company. Completely unacceptable conduct and behaviour.I would never want someone like this working on my home.
