Very nice and professional group of people. They attract top notch staff and it shows each time I meet a new member.
Run a fast as you can. Currently in a development that Konter is building and we have no say even paying HOA Fees. The community area, pool and playground are a joke. The pool is the size of a toddler pool not one for a big development. Same with the playground equipment. Building super is a joke he sits in the model home all day and is the most unhelpful person you will meet. Doesn't know how to do his job and certainly doesn't check his contractor's work.
While, thankfully, I did not build my home with Konter Homes - I have had the displeasure of attempting to deal with them today. A new neighborhood phase is being developed, starting on the lot next to mine. Contractors hired by Konter Homes, “Preferred Site Construction,” did not appropriately read the marking of utilities. Their negligence resulted in one of my utility lines being severed due to their digging. As soon as I noticed this afternoon, I began contacting Konter, 811, and Preferred Site Construction.I am less than thrilled at how Konter began to handle the situation. During my initial call, I was told that Carl, the superintendent, would be notified and give me a call. However - the follow-up call included being told “they have no knowledge of construction on this road” and being argued with that my internet cable “runs through the front of my yard,” which is incorrect. This information is incorrect according to 811 records as well as Smith Family Homes’ superintendent. While it may not appear to be a big issue to some, I work from home, which requires internet. It has been like pulling teeth to have someone take accountability. According to 811, the damage report was not even filed with the correct providing company. All that was relayed to me was that “Carl has already gone home for the day, and it would be dark before he could get by. He will come look at it tomorrow”. This is a very sorry explanation, and even sorrier customer service. Had I been notified, this could have been a very different situation - but that did not happen. Damage done to my property and the inconvenience of having to deal with it, including the indication of also having to pay for repairs, is ridiculous. If this is any indication of how they handle issues caused by themselves or their contractors - I’d be terrified to find out how they treat individuals who build homes with them.
Horrible experience. They refused to do a walk through with our clients a week prior to closing. Marcy Konter told me their homes are built so well and double checked so there is only a need for a walk through the day of closing since there are rarely issues. Even though we requested a walk through earlier anyways, she refused. We scheduled the walk through the same day of closing and when we got there the key did not work they had to leave the back door unlocked for the buyers to get in after closing in case it wasn't taken care of in time. Not to mention there were multiple issues including no toilet paper or towel holders in any bathrooms and multiple scratches in the sink, etc. The buyers were told to come back to the model house after closing to see if the keys were ready. At Closing we were told the builder did not sign the ALTAs so the buyer was asked to take the ALTAs with them when they went to pickup the keys. We as the agents as well as the lender and buyer asked multiple times why the buyer was responsible to take the paperwork and that it was very unprofessional. We were given no additional answers other than they couldn't fund and the buyer did not own the home until it was signed. The buyers left downtown Savannah and went all the way to guyton to the model house and no one was there. They called the office and the lady who answered the phone was rude to them and told them they needed to come to the Savannah office and how someone from there office would never have told us to go to the model home. They had to come all the way back to Savannah and miss their sons soccer game ( by the way the father is the coach). We showed up at Konters office to make sure everything was taken care of and Marcy came out very rudely to tell us to drop everything and get closed. It was then explained that we had not actually closed yetAfter closing downtown at the attorneys office they have to come to Konter for a whole other closing and To review the warranty and obtain keys. No one told us this at all. Then we were basically told it was our fault because we changed the closing time. The closing time was scheduled all the way back on 7/30 for 2pm, it never changed. This whole office has been very unprofessional and did not handle the situation well at all . They should have treated the buyer with more respect. The buyers were ready to back out of the contract due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of this company. I would not recommend buying a home from them. If you are an agent and your client decides to purchase a home from them, stay on top of them.
Konter Quality Homes stands behind their product! As a builder, they provide a 2-10 warranty. Part of that warranty includes 1 year coverage on workmanship in the home. I had a small issue within the first year and Konter sent someone out quickly to resolve the issue. A year and a half later, the same issue was occuring and I contacted Konter Homes. Even though I was out of my 1 year warranty, Konter sent multiple people out again to make sure the issue was fixed for good. They did so without any issue or arguing. I am thankful that they stand behind their product and put their own name behind it!
