We love the design and end result of our renovation, but would not work with or recommend Design First due to repeated communication issues and delays throughout the process. While the designer, Noah, was excellent, interactions after signing the contract became frustrating— subsequent meetings required PTO, communication was slow and inconsistent, and project updates via their app were often late or confusing. Material costs were unclear, leading to final costs over initial estimates even when we were told we had a healthy budget, and attempts were made to upsell their in-house cabinetry options after delays caused by the lack of prompt communication from the architectural designer. Our project manager, Gary, communicated well and handled minor damages in other areas of the home caused by subcontractors efficiently, but overall, ongoing miscommunication and errors from the architectural designer caused unnecessary stress and significant delays to our project. The final bathroom is great, but for over $70,000.00, we expected a smoother and more reassuring experience.Limited characters are allowed here, but very happy to provide further details/examples on the above issues.
They were BEYOND EXCELLENT! The scope, the design, the quality of work, the detail and the finished product. We had our WHOLE kitchen gutted and transformed into a MASTER PIECE! They made the entire process easy for us as they were a “one stop shop” for the entire kitchen remodel. Our designer, Francesca was right on with what we asked for and wanted. She was a pleasure and very easy to work with. Our project manager, Matt, was just as wonderful, always finding answers and delivering the best for us. He did it! We never had to wait. We are very happy with our choice to use Design First Builders!
Portico Perfection!! After buying our forever home a few years ago, it was finally time to remodel the front. We had a boring colonial trim in the front with no coverage over the porch.I heard about Design First and met with Danielle. She presented us with a few different designs of a portico. Danielle knew exactly what I was talking about and brought my vision to life though her meticulously crafted designs.After that we were quickly off to work with the lead architect and project designer.I had so much fun picking out the specific features of the portico. And my project team was incredibly helpful on all the design choices.Shortly after we met the Project Manager Keith. I truly appreciate the way Design First runs their business. Everything is throughly explained upfront so there are no surprises. They utilize a project planning app to make the process so simple for the home owner.Keith was so easy to get a hold of and always ensured the work was going according to plan.Yeah we had some hiccups and a few last minute tweaks, but I could not have imagined doing this project without D1st.It has truly transformed the look of our house and I absolutely love pulling into my driveway every day and marveling at our portico.
Our family room and kitchen needed a paint refresh and pictures hing and along installing 2 new doors. We contacted Keith Lukes and he gave us a quote for everything. The quote explained everything to us line by line. The painter, Maurice, came everyday on time and always cleaned up before leaving. The carpenter made sure the doors were hung plumb and the pictures centered over our couches.
