Highly recommend Backyard Estates – they delivered an amazing ADU!
I recently had Backyard Estates build ADU (749 sq ft, 2 bed / 2 bath) in my backyard, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. From the very beginning, their team was professional, friendly, and transparent. They handled everything turnkey — architectural plans, engineering, permitting, site prep, construction, and final inspections — so I barely had to lift a finger.
What really impressed me was how fast and smooth the build went. The framing was completed very fast while I was on vacation, and I never had to chase anyone for updates. They provided weekly online progress reports, which kept everything stress-free. I met with Adam and Tom early on, and they gave honest, straightforward advice without any pressure.
The finished ADU looks fantastic — high-quality finishes, an open and functional layout that feels much bigger than it is, and premium details throughout. It’s perfect for family gatherings, visiting parents, or even generating rental income. The quality is on par with (or better than) a main home, and it’s created so much more usable space.
Compared to a frustrating remodel I did in the past, working with Backyard Estates was the complete opposite — efficient, reliable, and truly enjoyable. I’m 100% satisfied and would recommend them to anyone in the Los Angeles area thinking about adding an ADU.

ADU after visiting several of their Open Houses and talking in depth with Adam and Tom. We were so impressed with their knowledge, professionalism, and integrity that we knew we wanted them to build our long dreamed about ADU. They handled everything, including all permits, from start to finish. All of their employees were on time, worked hard everyday, and completed the build from ground break to completion in 7 weeks. Backyard Estates also provided excellent references for landscaping and fencing. We easily rented our ADU and are enjoying our passive income stream. The Owner went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfy with our new addition. Any time we had a question, Adam the Owner, responded in a timely and professional manner and kept true to his word. He kept communication lines open throughout the entire construction process. He also confirmed tile and flooring choices with prior to installation. I never felt taking for granted, very pleased with the quality of the cabinetry and detailed work, including the exterior portion.
