Schumacher Homes of Wilmington, NC

Schumacher homes are exceptional and our project manager (Kent) was very knowledgeable, professional and cared about the reputation of the custom homes he was in charge of overseeing. He puts the custom in the customer’s homes. Kent listens and understood our needs. He helped build the home as if he was going to live in it himself. He delivered the home actually ahead of schedule. Kent and Schumacher Homes exceeded our expectations and we are contemplating purchasing another custom home and hopefully Kent can help us reach our goal.

Building a new home is a lot of time, money, and energy, and can certainly be stressful at times. While there were certainly hiccups along the way, various imperfections, and trades that had to come back and fix things, our general contractor, Kent, was communicative and always addressed the issues in a timely manner. As a homeowner, I think we also did a great job of setting ourselves up for success by thinking through what we wanted in the home/layout prior to the pre construction meeting so that we didn't have too many change orders throughout the build, and also visited the site often enough to keep tabs on the quality of work and ask questions as needed. Overall, we have a beautiful home and our experience was such that we would choose Schumacher again (at least give them the opportunity) if we ever build again in the future. Their price per square foot was very competitive without having to sacrifice too much on the finished product.

I cannot thank the team at Schumacher homes in Wilmington enough for the smooth build process. It started actually 5 years ago, yes 5 years ago meeting with Nate in a design meeting. Only to find out weeks later I was accepting a new job that require 300 days of travel a year so I put my building plans on hold. Finally, I realized if I never get this started it's not going to happen so I finally contacted them again and signed a contract. Nate was great, she walked me thru the process virtually and we had a set of plans ready to go. The concept of building a house when you will only be able to check on it once every 2 months is a scary idea, but the team was extremely accommodating and the star of the show was our builder Kent Godwin. He was great at communication the process, staying on top of the crews to make sure the work was completed on time and to the highest standards. Best part of all we broke ground in April and the house was done in August. As with any new homes our final inspection we found a few things that needed touched up and he had a crew by the house within the week to make the final repairs. I interviewed 6 building companies and found Schumacher of Wilmington was the best and they delivered on everything I expected. I also want to say thank you to Angela and Annsley who answer all my questions and always responded right away. If someone is looking to build a new home, this is the company to build it, you will not regret your decision.

My wife and I have always been a huge fan of Schumacher Homes since we visited Asheville for the first time 15 or 20 years ago. We have been planning for our retirement and where we want to live. We have seen many of their models all over NC and SC. Our recent visit to the models in Wilmington area was very disappointing. The front porch slab was sinking and pulling away from the house, cabinet doors were not aligned and they stopped the flooring half way in the utility room. These are your model homes, these are what people judge your craftsmanship on......these 2 models did not meet the mark!!! Extremely disappointed.
