We hired them for a new custom home build, and the experience proved that you get what you pay for: high-quality detail, superior energy efficiency, and a home built to last. ?They were critical right from the start, helping us with plot planning and navigating the Environmental and Conservation Commission to maximize the value of our land. Once we moved into the house design phase, the process was very interactive. We explored different layouts and iterated on designs to ensure we incorporated all our "wants." This collaborative approach resulted in a layout that is both functional and beautiful—the vaulted ceiling in the great room, for example, really hit the nail on the head. ?Once construction started, the value of their project management became clear. They handled all the coordination and day-to-day details so that we didn't have to take time to do it ourselves. It made for a much smoother experience. ?On the administrative side, the planning was excellent. We selected finishes like tile and flooring early to give the build team a "runway," which helped the schedule immensely. The only downside was that a few items were discontinued during that long lead time, which was a disappointment, though it worked out in the end. We also appreciated the design consulting to bounce ideas off of, though a bit more clarity on the costs and role of the designer would have been an improvement. ?Ultimately, if you want a team that can handle everything from complex site planning to high-end custom features, Gilmore Builders is the right choice.

Finding the right builder is crucial—a team that works seamlessly with you and always prioritizes your best interests. This is our experience with Gilmore Building Company, Inc. The entire team, from the owner to the project manager, site manager, and office staff, has been wonderful to work with. No matter how small or large the question or request, they handle it with expertise, experience, and respect. Our goal is to construct an EnergyStar home that is both efficient and sound, and Gilmore Building Co. not only shares our enthusiasm for achieving this but is making it a reality. Their craftsmanship is exceptional; no detail is overlooked, and every subcontractor involved in the project maintains the same integrity and work ethic. We found Gilmore Building Co. after a few missteps in the project, and we often wish we had found them sooner.

I don’t think many people renovating a home say that they love their builder, but we do. Gilmore and his staff have been a delight to work with on our home remodel. We would happily choose them again if we were to do another building project. Here’s why: After interviewing several contractors referred to us by our architect, my wife and I contracted with Gilmore Building Company for a major home renovation to age in place in mid-2024, with work scheduled to begin in 2025. We chose Gilmore because they offered a precise and methodical system of working through this complex project which includes adding a six-stop elevator in the middle of our house. Eric and his design/build team spent much of late 2024 creating a comprehensive project plan with clear estimates, milestones, and payment schedules, and we started the actual project early this year (2025). We are now roughly half-way through our project, and we have been thrilled with Gilmore’s work. We have weekly meetings at the site with Heather, our project manager and with Kris, who supervises all the onsite work. The project has been progressing according to the detailed plan and any variations in budget and schedule that have occurred have been changes that we requested and approved. The only surprises we’ve encountered have been from our 35-year-old house structure (e.g., “how did the original builders not install a beam here to hold up the roof?”), not from Gilmore’s execution. One aspect of the work that has stood out to us is Gilmore’s staff and stable of excellent contractors. We knew we needed help deciding on all the details of our kitchen and bathroom designs for aging in place. Jennifer was exacting in re-measuring our kitchen and bath for layout, and she suggested several creative solutions that improved the flow of both rooms while saving us money. Eric also put us in touch with an excellent interior designer who has guided us through that decision-making. Her ability to guide us through the hundreds of choices we needed to make to finalize, order, and acquire our dream kitchen and bath has been one of the factors that has kept the schedule on track. We recently completed a nine-month renovation of our home with The Gilmore Building Co, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
