I hired Lakeside to install a water heater in Ann Arbor in 2024. Their quote was about $400 higher than a competitor, but I chose them because I was told they could complete the job six days earlier.The water heater model was selected by a Lakeside technician during a paid visit to the property. However, on installation day, I was informed that the selected tank would not fit and a more expensive model had to be ordered. And the job was completed only one day earlier than the competitor’s timeline.More importantly, after the installation, the required permits did not pass final inspection in time. During a City of Ann Arbor rental inspection, I was informed that the final inspection had not been completed, and I was unable to obtain the required certificate. As a result, I had to pay a $500 fine.In the end, the installation was completed and the invoice was paid in full, but the overall coordination, planning, and permit follow-through created unnecessary stress and financial loss.------------2026 Update: The unit required repair. I was informed by my realtor that the issue appeared related to improper installation (including dissimilar metals in contact, leading to corrosion). Lakeside did not stand behind their work, and I had to pay for the repair.
We had Dan come to evaluate what was wrong with the water heater which we needed to replace so another group came to do the installation. Dan was very informative and knows his trade and the installation group worked efficiently and were very professional. Brandon and Devon did a great job with the installation explaining any questions we had. If you’re looking for a company for cooling and heating Lakeside did a great job!
I was very impressed with the telephone support I received from Jason on Sunday night. Due to his help, I was able to get the furnace running until the induced draft motor finally died today (Tuesday morning). When I called Lakeside this morning, they dispatched Jason to my home within a few hours. He had the part and quickly fixed my furnace. I am grateful for the excellent service I received from Lakeside.Now for the bad news, I was charged $950 for a technician to come out and replace a $175 (retail) part. Total time to repair was about 30 minutes. That is pretty steep pricing any way you look at it. I would advise the Lakeside management team to remember the old adage: “You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once.” Frankly, if it wasn’t so difficult to get the part in a timely manner, I could have, and would have fixed it myself. It was, literally, three screws and three wires to connect.So, excellent service, tempered by exorbitant pricing. Hence the 3 stars. In the future, I will try to find a less expensive option. Sorry, but you guys asked for my review.
Thank you for great service on our Geo-Thermal Furnace. We were without heat in these bitter cold January temperatures. Jake came out and correctly assessed our issue. The part needed to be ordered, which we weren’t surprised on since it was costly item to have on hand. The part came quickly and Brian came out to install it quickly and professionally. My husband was impressed with his knowledge on our system as not too many companies work on them. We appreciate doing business with you. Thank you.
I’ve been a Lakeside Service customer for over 10 years, and I can say without hesitation that this company is truly exceptional. Over the years I’ve purchased a new Carrier furnace and a new Carrier air conditioning unit through them, and I’ve relied on their annual maintenance to keep everything running at peak performance. I also buy my furnace filters from them every six months.In all that time, I have never once felt pressured, upsold, or given service I didn’t need. Their technicians have always been honest, trustworthy, and completely professional. I’ve always felt comfortable with them working in my home—even when I’m not standing right there.Most recently, I had my furnace serviced for the winter and Carson was the technician who came out. He also serviced my A/C last spring, and we both remembered each other. Carson is the definition of professional: courteous, technically skilled, and genuinely trustworthy. We even spent a few minutes catching up before he got to work. He made me feel like family, and as always, he didn’t try to sell me anything unnecessary. He just did the job right.I rarely write reviews, but some businesses truly deserve recognition. Lakeside has been consistent for over a decade—consistent in service, consistent in integrity, and consistent in treating customers the right way. Not all businesses are exceptional, but Lakeside is, and that’s why I highly recommend them.Great job, Lakeside! Keep up the excellent work.
