I own an older Saltbox Colonial where electric baseboard heat was the only built-in heating source, aside from fireplaces that are not suitable as a primary heat source. With eversource continuing to explode electric costs, baseboard heat was simply not a viable option.

Heating this home during the winter had become a serious challenge, requiring multiple cords of wood and roughly three tons of pellets just to adequately heat a single floor.

When I began searching for a real solution, I carefully evaluated both propane and heat-pump systems and met with multiple companies for inspections and quotes. None came close to the level of expertise, thoughtfulness, or solution design that Hefferon brought to the table, and I mean that wholeheartedly.

From my very first meeting with Ernie, it was immediately clear that he was working from deep technical knowledge and real-world experience. He visited my home multiple times and worked closely with me to evaluate different system options. Installing a system of this scale is a big investment, so I asked a lot of questions. Ernie was patient, transparent, and took the time to clearly explain every aspect of the design and how it would perform in real-world conditions.

What his team ultimately designed was nothing short of brilliant: a 7-zone system capable of efficiently heating the entire home, all three floors, while also serving as a new primary cooling system. Hefferon provided detailed, itemized estimates that included model numbers for every component, which I truly appreciated. That level of transparency builds confidence that you’re getting exactly what was promised at a fair price.

On installation day, the Hefferon team was as professional as it gets. They were respectful of my home, coordinated seamlessly with other contractors on site, and communicated clearly throughout the entire process. Every technician was polite, knowledgeable, and clearly operating at an expert level.

The final result is a beautifully installed, cutting-edge 6-ton 7-zone Daikin heating and cooling system powered by two cold-climate 36,000 BTU outdoor units. The system delivers full heating performance down to 5°F and continues operating reliably down to approximately -13°F to -15°F. It includes four indoor wall split units and a multi-zone air handler with dampers for the upstairs bedrooms, offering redundancy, full remote management, intuitive digital thermostats, and outstanding comfort control.

Most importantly, it works flawlessly! Even with outdoor temperatures in the single digits, the system maintains the entire home evenly between 70–75°F. This is the first winter I’ve been able to truly relax without constantly tending fires, hauling pellets, or dealing with ash and smoke.

Following the install, I wanted a to make few additions to the system. Andrew visited the home a few times for these final additions. Andrew was highly professional and knowledgable and took the time to complete these updates really perfecting the system.

I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. This house finally has a viable heating and cooling system! The system design, fair pricing, detailed estimates, professional installation, and final performance all exceeded my expectations. I don’t think you can hug a company, but if you could, I would lol But I probably shouldn't because that would be weird.

Like every good consumer, I had multiple companies come in and give me an estimate for a new heat pump system. I chose Hefferon because the owner Ernie came over to speak with us and measure us for the New heat pump. Ernie was far from a salesman!! He truly was interested in providing us with the right system, not just making a sale! Several of the other companies were extremely pushy, but not Ernie. He was genuine and it felt like a friend was coming over to help.
Fast forward to the installation Ernie came out the day before to make sure everything was perfect for the install and then he sent his team the next day. If you wanna talk about attention to detail, they came in put tarps down to protect the carpet. Pleasant, explained everything and was so professional over the next three days of install. Even his electrician did magnificent work and even had somebody come and pick up the old unit and all the other trash there wasn’t anything left behind.
At the end of the install, everything was explained to me and I had absolutely zero complaints.
If you’re looking for a local guy to put in your new system, I would absolutely unequivocally recommend Hefferon!!
