I recently had a very disappointing experience with Encon. Since I had a service contract with them, I foolishly relied on their surfaces. After ongoing issues with my heating system (Encon service calls starting 11/2024) their technicians could not find the issue. This problem became progressively worse until my heating system would only stay on for 2–3 hours at a time. In December 2025-Feb 2026. Encon sent out numerous technicians whom were unable to properly diagnose the problem. I was told by one technician that it was something as minor as a “loose wire,” which turned out to be completely inaccurate.I ended up hiring an independent HVAC professional, who quickly identified that the system did not need a new expansion tank (as suggested) and instead replaced an air vent and the low water cutoff. Since then, the system has been working perfectly. The total cost was $1,800 LESS than what Encon had quoted and fixed within 1day.It’s frustrating that this issue wasn’t correctly diagnosed months earlier. If the assigned technicians weren’t certain how to resolve the problem, a more experienced professional should have been sent. Not to mention that a part that they wanted to install, one that Did not need replacing was delayed by almost a month. In the coldest time of the year (due in March).While Danielle, my service manager was very helpful and responsive — and I truly appreciate her assistance — the overall service experience has left me disappointed. I will not be renewing my service contract.
You have to treat service at an empty building differently. A window such as 8 - 10 does not work when the owner/manager must travel to be present to allow your technicians to gain access. This visit I arrived at 8:00. Your team arrived at 8:45, but for some reason, parked their van 200 feet away. I was waiting for a communication about their arrival which never came. It was when I was leaving that I discovered them down the street. Better communication is necessary. Once that was settled, your team performed their tasks efficiently.
Discovered a heating issue in a zone of our house and called in for a service call first thing on Monday. While I noted my service was not an emergency since I did have heat in other areas of our house, Encon still made a point of sending a service technician by that afternoon. Ernie Sanchez arrived when expected and immediately set about resolving our issue - which he did. All was up and running as normal within a couple of hours with a clear explanation from Ernie and notice that he would need to come back again to fully fix our issue. We have not yet been billed for this service but in light of the bitterly cold temperatures, I am confident that Ernie’s time was efficient and effectively spent.
Do yourselves a favor and find a more honest and reputable HVAC group to work with. This company has been sending me a bill for a service. I wasn't familiar with this company and when I called them to say I've never had services done by them, they said "oh we merged with a different company so maybe you called our other company." Ok, interesting. On the bill is a service for my HVAC system cleaning but the date on their invoice was the incorrect date. I've spoken to them again and they asserted that the service was done on that specific date but the only HVAC service I had was 6 months off from their invoice date. The story didn't match up to me. The dates were wrong and the company was different. I refused to pay the bill until the invoice was updated to reflect the correct date (which if they were the company I worked with they should have in their record) but all they've done is spam me with letters and threatening me. It seems so much like a scam.
This ENCON visit was a semi-annual maintenance check. Wendy did a great job of making sure the scheduling of my appointment was well coordinated. Matt was the technician, and he was terrific; professional and extremely helpful. I had a list of questions regarding my geothermal system, and he took the time to provide explanations to me. He also identified issues with a radiant heat system that I did not know existed, and he was able to resolve the problems. He also helped me set up my thermostats to my Wi-Fi; he was very patient with me which I greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend ENCON/Matt as an HVAC service provider.
