Stay away from this place! They cut corners and use cheap, non-approved parts while doing installation. We've had our 9 year old furnace inspected and tuned up numerous times, yet have had a recurring problem with the inducer filling up with water leading to total loss of heat in sub-zero weather. We recently called another reputable HVAC company who immediately diagnosed the issue. Instead of using the proper drain tube kit that should have come with our furnace, Tom's substituted a cheap vinyl tube and attached it to a piece of 90 degree PVC pipe, then glued it to the drain trap. This is absolutely NOT recommended as it is very prone to kinking and clogging which was the root of our problem. Even after I brought this to their attention, Tom's stubbornly refused to admit any wrong-doing or take any responsibility for the error. They would not even honor the 10 year parts/labor warranty unless I first paid for a service call. The rude person I spoke to almost insinuated that they are the only ones qualified to service my furnace. How arrogant and insulting! I absolutely refused to hand this company more money just to drive out and tell me they still did nothing wrong. We took our money to a far more knowledgeable competitor and the issue was fixed very quickly. I could have saved hundreds of dollars by ditching Tom's a long time ago. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
This is a Very Customer Service orientated Family Business. I was pleased with the personal quality service from my first call speaking with Heather the receptionist to Kyle the certified oil furnace technician that did the tune up. They are fairly priced and don't try to sell you! The price is reasonable and they will call you before they come if you want. I highly recommend Tom's Heating Service!
First time using Tom's Heating Service. It is a company name I have known since I was a teenager! The technician sent to my house was friendly answered my questions and seemed knowledgeable... got our proposal for the new furnace we moved forward. They said we needed a smaller furnace...but just hours after the installation I have begun to question this decision...The new furnace took almost 2 hours to heat my house from 67 to 70 degrees. (The furnace had already been running non stop from 4:30ish to 6:20ish without hitting the temperature so 4½ hours to get 3-4 degrees! ) Every time the furnace comes on to just maintain the temperature it runs for like 45 minutes at least!
It has been a long time since I have been so impressed with customer service. Tom did a wonderful job up front with the quoting process, and Pete and Cody did an excellent job with installation. They really went above and beyond in providing plus one service.
I could not be happier with the new air conditioning install that Tom's provided us. Our AC was old and basically dead, and Paul made a great recommendation for a new model. The team came out and performed the install and put in some additional venting in our basement. They were very friendly and cleaned up very thoroughly before they left (maybe even cleaner than when they arrived!) I asked about an upgraded thermostat and the tech brought one out and walked us through the set up process. Top notch service and a great group of guys to work with.
