Prospective customers may benefit from confirming response times and aftercare policies before starting.
We’ve used Jon several times over the past few years for landscaping, tree removal after the hurricane, digging a French drain that fixed our gutter problem, building a rock parking platform, and designing and constructing an outdoor pizza oven/grill area.Jon is reasonably priced, trustworthy, gets work done on time, and is just an all-around nice guy. The crew he employs are extremely hard workers and great at what they do. We will continue to use Jon for any upcoming projects and can’t recommend him highly enough!
We have been a customer for 3 years now for lawn weed control and lawn fertilization. I have had people ask me what I use on the lawn because it looks so nice. I tell them we hire Sharper Edge Inc. Thanks to Nick for the terrific job of making the lawn look great again.
Had a lawn and landscaping installed last year. The lawn was washed away the following day by a storm and 2 trees died in less than a year. I watered and maintained everything and was told there was no warranty on anything. I had to re-seed my lawn myself and remove the dead trees. They didn't even try to fix the issues. I would avoid Sharper Edge. Unless you like throwing money away and being ignored and doing a bunch of work yourself.
Lawn was seeded May 31. It has been watered daily and we have had plenty of rain. I have called and emailed multiple times asking for someone to come take a look and make suggestions on what can be done to help growth. Three weeks passed with no response. I called another company and they were out within a few days.My neighbor had a similar experienceCustomer service is definitely lacking.
Update June 19'- Unfortunately I feel the need to update my review due to of some issues that have gone unaddressed. There have been no problems with the hardscaping partof the project (paver patio &retaining walls.) The problems are with the softscaping (grading/grass planting) work done by the Sharper Edge.I have made numerous attempts to get answers & resolution to the issues documented below. Multiple phone calls, text messages, & emails have largely gone unanswered which is where my frustration lies with the Sharper Edge.Issues:1) Grass Seeding & Topsoil- There are numerous areas of the lawn that are bare & very thin. Sharper Edge planted seed on an unusually windy day (15-25mph) gusts. Large plumes of fine clay topsoil dust could be seen blowing which most likely caused some seed to be disrupted or displaced. I did raise concern about planting in windy conditions the following day & was told the 1/8" to 1/4" deep planting would be just fine.Additionally, I inquired about black dirt topsoil as my lot was almost all clay. Sharper Edge stated that that clay soil would be sufficient & OK to use. In consulting with other lawn professionals, it seems that the clay is not ideal & the black topsoil should have been considered & utilized to provide the best medium for planting2) Hydromulching & Erosion Control- Due to a Sharper Edge equipment breakdown, hydromulch (erosion control & fertilizing) was not applied for 10 days after seed planting. Watering from the in-ground irrigation system was also not started at their request.Other minor hills/heavy sun areas where hay blanketing should have been utilized to prevent washout and provide the best conditions for success being that no limitations or cost cutting was imposed.3) Grading-There is a large area where water ponds about 4" deep due to insufficient grading. This area takes a couple of days to dissipate which is unacceptable & undesirable as I dont want my two young kids soaking wet every time the go outside to play.Migrating water away from the property & house should have been done properly & trust was given to the Sharper Edge to provide this.4)Caving/Compaction- There are numerous areas where the ground has caved/collapsed due to insufficient compaction post digging &trenching. The in ground trampoline trench they dug is the worst area & needs attention. (See Pictures)Expectations: I understand that seeded lawns are a multi-year process & I don't expect a "Lambeau Field" lawn. I have happily addressed & fixed the smaller maintenance areas around the property. The lone response I did get from the Sharper Edge was they could come out & topsoil/seed at my expense. They did not address the caving & grading issue which should be their responsibility to fix as this is a result of their install process. Passing the buck to the customer on this is simply unacceptable. In trying to compromise, I have proposed that I pay for the materials (seed &soil) as well as take a vacation day to assist in labor. Numerous attempts to find fair & reasonable compromise have gone unanswered which is why I am using the same platform I used to praise them.I rarely take to public forums to air complaints or grievances, however my private attempts to resolve have fallen flat. Unfortunately, this response---or lack there of is my final impression. I hope Sharper Edge can find a way to make this right.D_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ARCHVED--May 18' --- I recently had the Sharper Edge crew complete the landscaping on a new construction house & couldn't be happier. I have been extremely impressed with the thoroughness & patience that Paul (Design/Coordinator) has provided throughout the entire process.Sharper Edge's installation crew was extremely friendly, professional, &did an amazing job from start to finish.I would highly recommend them to anyone as the finished project speaks for itself. Again...a huge thank you to Paul & the Sharper Edge team!
