I worked with Silver Leaf Landscapes to make a very steep hillside usable for gardening, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I wanted space for food gardening but didn’t have room for planter boxes, and Lindsey came up with a creative solution that completely transformed the area.

He designed a deck at the top of the slope that feels beautifully integrated with the landscape, along with large pots for planting that make the space functional and easy to maintain. The result is both practical and really lovely to spend time in. Lindsey was thoughtful, professional, and easy to work with throughout the process. I’d definitely recommend Silver Leaf Landscapes.

We’re beyond thrilled with our new landscaping. Lindsey was on time and on budget, but beyond that such a creative mind and sense of design with all aspects of the yard. I rarely write reviews, but in this case it is MORE than well deserved. Lindsey is a Artisan, plain and simple. The home we recently purchased was in dire need of everything...including the front and rear landscaping which was basically a patch of weeds. We hired him based on a gut-feeling, and I feel like we won the lottery! Not only did we win, but the house won as well. His talent for placement, color, lighting, and overall design is truly artistic, and he is a great person to collaborate with during the process. He listens, suggests changes as appropriate, and implements...and all within the time proposed. He really gets it.
We couldn't be happier (and neither can the neighbors, lol).

Lindsey just finished a six-month landscaping job for us, and we are ecstatic with the results. We expected a beautiful landscape, but we got a stunning work of art. Our biggest anxiety about this job was the fear that we would have to micromanage our landscaper to get the results we wanted. However, within a few weeks of meetings and drawing up detailed plans we were confident that Lindsey understood exactly what we wanted and could implement it. Then when we saw his work begin to appear on our property we quickly realised he is not just a skilled landscaper, he is also a brilliant artist and a true craftsman. Literally every single thing he did is beautiful and installed with careful attention to detail and quality. For example, he installed for us a recirculating stream about 20 feet long. The course of the stream and the placement of stones in and around the stream looked familiar to me but I couldn’t figure out why until I realised it reminded me of the Sierra rivers I’ve rafted throughout my life. It looks completely natural and is a joy to behold. I love everything Lindsey did but probably my favorites are the stream and the dry stone retaining walls and stone stairways he built on our steep hillside. The beauty of his stone work rivals any stone work I’ve ever seen anywhere. The choices he made of stone colors, shapes, sizes and placement were all perfect. Watching him install the stones we could see him carefully selecting, rotating and angling each one to ensure they exposed their most beautiful faces and fit together just right. When he planted trees he dug the holes and craned the trees into the holes, then left them without backfill for a day so he could shift attention to other work, then come back later to look at them with fresh eyes, and adjust their rotation and location to get the look perfect before he backfilled them.
Before we ordered lanterns for our garden Lindsey made great effort to ensure we ordered the right lanterns, number and sizes. He reviewed with us the various models we found and provided valuable commentary to help us narrow down our choice. Then he made accurate cardboard mockups of the various sizes of our selected lantern and placed them around the garden so we could see how they look in place and rearrange as desired. Once the lanterns were delivered he installed a variety of bulbs into them over several days so we could choose the colour we want. Thanks to his help and guidance we ended up with the perfect garden lighting.
Lindsey was a pleasure to work with and his communication was excellent throughout. He was onsite throughout all the work and did almost all of the finish work himself, which ensured it all met his quality standards. At the end he provided us detailed records and care instructions. Lindsey Zero did a major landscape design project for us that included extensive demolition, leveling of a hillside lot, and implementation of hardscape and landscape. He designed a fountain for our garden, and incorporated all the ideas that we asked for. He was present every day, working alongside one or two other employees, and is a meticulous planner and incredibly good communicator.
Our project went over our original budget, because we added extra projects along the way, and we had a number of unforeseen events, including a surprise discovery of a septic tank that was never abandoned properly! Lindsey handled all this with great aplomb and kept us apprised of the change orders in our project.
We are thrilled with the results, and have a garden that is both beautiful, and functional, and weathered the recent rains without a hitch. We recommended SilverLeaf Landscapes without reservation.
