If you’re sitting on $90,000+ and want to watch it evaporate faster than snow in July, Fire Sky Landscaping might be for you. For the rest of us mortals with modest yards and realistic budgets, do yourself a favor and run.We paid their $2,500 “architecture fee” (which they swear will go toward your project — if you sign with them). What we got in return was a backyard “plan” my 8-year-old could have sketched with a box of crayons in five minutes. Nothing original. Nothing creative. Just a cookie-cutter outline paired with a jaw-dropping $90,000+ quote for a tiny 0.15 acre yard. Spoiler: we were upfront from the beginning that we were flipping the property, needed a simple kid-and-dog-friendly yard, and were working with less than half that budget. Apparently honesty doesn’t matter here unless you’re “Tahoe rich.”When I told them how disappointed and blindsided I felt (after promptly getting six other quotes that were literally half the price for better work), Mark’s response was… crickets. Totally ghosted. No conversation, no refund, no solutions. Just a very expensive “thanks for playing.”So unless you enjoy paying thousands for a generic sketch and the privilege of being ignored, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Consider this your cautionary tale.Update: their response online was great...however that is not how it actually went down. Ron never offered a refund. The email that I was met with was full of a passive aggressive, emotional attempt to get me to take my review down and associated gaslighting attempt...I really did find 6 quotes for half the price or less Ron! I get it...my review was cheeky, but it was my honest experience with the company (maybe their consultsnt services should be questioned?) and the tone of their email response (3wks after my initial attempt to rectify things) was anything but polite, helpful or interested in a resolution. They probably used a design consultant and my interaction may not be representative of actual work completed by the company as a whole, yet 100% the consultant they are associated with absolutely weasled us out of $2500 and then ghosted us. We were very clear on our expectations, desires etc...they could have just said they didn't want the job. So, I still advise proceeding with caution. We have since found a company who has been amazing, and yes really is half the price.
I used Ron and his team to do my backyard and sideyard, both of which came as a dirt lot as part of a new home build. I reached out to them over a year before my project was done (prior to me even closing on the house), and I can say safely that I was the bottleneck on the project, not these guys. They listened to my wants on landscaping design, and we iterated on several different aspects of it until I had something I liked. We went back and forth several times trying to get the project to the right design and budget. Then once everything was final, we scheduled a time for the crews to start. The Firesky crews are fantastic - they were at my house everyday at 7:30a on the dot and worked tirelessly. I was actually shocked how fast they completed my project (which included running gas and electrical lines, grading, building a wall, turf, water features, etc - no small ordeal). I had no problems whatsoever with the work getting done. The work also exceeded my expectations: the reality exceeded the vision I had from the drawings.Firesky team is not pushy, thoughtful, and respectful of your time and wants. I would absolutely use them again for my next property. While I did get "cheaper" quotes from other companies, I had a great feeling speaking with Ron and trusted my gut that this the premier company (I couldn't even get other companies to return my call after getting a quote!).Firesky did not disappoint and I think you get what you pay for.
These guys did a great job with my backyard landscaping. They were able to start and complete the project months before any of the other quotes I received. I was also very happy with the time and attention Chris gave to my project. He provided a clear plan with materials and prices within my budget and there were no surprise costs at the end of the job. I highly recommend this company for landscape design and installation.
Daniel Rockwell really made a positive impact on our back yard project. His design far exceeded our expectations. His knowledge and creativity helped us create the back yard oasis of our dreams. Every detail and aspect was over saw and directed by him with no stone unturned. Thank you land art and Daniel for handling the stress and making this project an enjoyable expierence. The end result is top notch! Looking forward to working with you next year on our next phase!
Ron worked with us at every stage of our (quite large) landscaping project, with beautiful results that surpassed our expectations. Both Ron and his assistant Tom spent much time out of the office to meet us at home and at various vendors to select materials that appealed to us, while providing expert advice all the way, and working through various options to meet our budget. Apart from the great back and forth of exchanging ideas for the plans and selecting materials, the supervision and execution of the landscaping was (thankfully) completely hands-off for us. The work crew Ron hired were skilled experts with the right tools for the job (including multiple construction vehicles, and even a 100 ft crane at one point). They worked hard, efficiently, and completed the project in the scheduled time, with complete clean up at the end. Everyone who has seen our landscaping is amazed at the professional look and feel of our new outdoor living area. What is amazing is the attention to detail in design and actual construction, for example, the different feel in the various areas of "outside rooms", the geometric precision and levelness of the extensive patio area, and how flat they managed to build the retaining wall of boulders behind our outdoor fireplace. In summary, I would strongly recommend LandArt for your landscaping project, keeping in mind that (as always) you get what you pay for. If you want to realize your dreams on a project, while being secure to know that the results will look completely professional, choosing LandArt is the way to go.
