3 summers in the making was well worth the wait. What Karl and his crew were able to create and the many obstacles they were able to overcome to give us the front and backyard of our dreams far exceeded our expectations. From the initial meeting, it became very clear that Karl was very knowledgeable about his craft and would be very easy to deal with. He had a great process in place to understand our vision of what we wanted, turn that into a conceptual design and then execute flawlessly on that design. He listened to all or concerns and was able to clearly articulate to us his plan to complete the project. I love his concept of it’s better to over-engineer than to take short cuts and be left with a less-than-optimal outcome. From start to finish, the work was of high caliber, the materials were of high quality, price was fair and once the team got started, the project remained on schedule. He also has some great partners to work with such as experience drainage specialists, water sprinkler installers and quick curb installers. He and his team always acted in a professional manner and made sure the project site was as neat and tidy as possible at the end of each day. Our Driveway replacement project We had grown tired of the up and down that our driveway did each season as well as the appearance. Despite having the concrete lifted it still moved up and down and was cracked in a few places. We contacted Karl from Modern Earth about replacing our driveway with block pavers. We contacted several other companies as well. Karl's quote was the most comprehensive Karl described each step, the materials that would be used as well as explaining the need for each step and product. Karl had lots of weather delays this year and was still struggling mid-summer to get jobs completed that were hold overs from last year. When he and his crew arrived the project got started quickly. He had the courtesy to drop off a letter to each of our neighbours to outline the scope and timeline of the project. Our neighbours were impressed. Once he started everything flowed. Every night the street was cleaned. Equipment was placed out of the way and safety cones were strategically placed. If the day's work involved lots of dust his crew went around our home and the adjacent neighbours to blow away any residual dust. NIce touch. The finished product is amazing. We are delighted each time we look out our windows or drive onto the driveway. It is an excellent addition to our home. I highly recommend Karl and Modern Earth.
