Whitby Landscaping, Gardening & Sod??

We considered hiring this snow removal company but decided not to after seeing their work. After Boxing Day’s heavy snowfall, our driveway and sidewalk were already cleared. During service for our neighbor, snow was pushed back onto our cleared access, creating new obstacles. When hiring a snow removal service, it’s worth considering the potential impact on neighboring properties and relationships.

We are very pleased with the resodding of our front lawn, done by Sheldon and Alec. From beginning to completion, they were hard working and friendly, asking for our opinions on several occasions. We were impressed by the clean-up following completion, especially after such a long day's work. Nothing was overlooked. We highly recommend Whitby Landscaping and Sodding. We asked if our front retaining wall could be repaired. We knew from past experience that most companies do not want to take on a small jobs like that. Also, there was concern that the colour of the bricks would not match, which didn't bother us. But Dave said sure, Whitby Landscaping would do it for us. It looks great and we're very happy and thankful.

Unfortunately, my experience with Whitby Landscaping was very disappointing. While everyone I interacted with was friendly and polite, and my initial conversations with Dave were great, the quality of the work and how my concerns were handled left a lot to be desired, especially after the fibre optic cable to my house was severed. I hired them for a garden cleanup and de-weeding, but weeds began popping up just days after the job was completed. Given that weed removal and fabric installation were the main reasons for the work, this was frustrating. When I raised the issue, I was told thistle is persistent and this was a maintenance issue — a response that felt dismissive. I don’t believe the de-weeding was done deeply enough to remove the roots. The crew also seemed unclear on the full scope of work and would have left half the garden untouched if I hadn’t been home to point it out. Garden edging was also skipped during the first visit and only addressed after I followed up. It was improved on the second visit, but should have been done correctly the first time. The situation got significantly worse when the team came back to complete the edging, as the fiber optic cable to our home was severed. This left us without internet for a day, impacting our ability to work from home. Rather than take full accountability, the business shifted blame to Bell for not burying the cable deep enough. While they did eventually offer to cover the repair costs if we were billed, there was no acknowledgment of the significant inconvenience, lost time, or impact this caused us, including the time we had to take off of work due to the connectivity issue. On a positive note, the plants that were installed are healthy and have done well with the detailed care instructions provided, despite persistent, extreme heat. Overall, the workmanship was underwhelming, and the customer service felt more focused on deflecting responsibility than addressing the core issues. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend Whitby Landscaping.

Dave and the guys at Whitby landscaping went above and beyond our expectations. Even when running into the unexpected, they dealt with everything with professionalism and expertise. The crew was respectful, and kind, and extremely knowledgeable. They made sure we were comfortable with any maintenance that would be required, and answered any and all questions we had. The result is an impeccable new lawn for our family to enjoy. Thank you!!

The new poolside patio is awesome, and the new gardens and plants look great. You also did a great job fixing up the old, deteriorating parts of our front and backyard.
