Not Your Basic Locksmith - Arlington

Not your Basic Locksmith service is outstanding. I live locally and a technician came to my house 10 minutes after call inquiring services. I don't remember the gentleman name but thank you. The car was unlocked quickly and he also help me find the pad lock code to the care for future incidents that hopefully wont happen again. Thank you for your professionalism and promptness. 5 + stars

Rating: 1 star (because 0 stars isn’t an option) 0 stars for the owner. 1 star for the technician. Let me be perfectly clear: you WILL be charged, even if no work is done and even if they are not qualified to do the job. I contacted Not Your Basic Locksmith for a diesel SKIM issue and explained the situation up front. They still dispatched a technician and collected the mandatory $65 fee, then admitted on site that they could not communicate with the vehicle, did not have the required software, and lacked diesel knowledge. I was then told the job would need to be bench-done—something that should have been identified before taking my money. The technician was professional and honest. This review is not about him. The issue is the owner, who the technician called during the visit. During that call, I was told the system was “SKIM deleted.” It was not. Whether that statement was made through ignorance or dishonesty, it was false. This business model is simple: They show up, take your money, and only afterward tell you they can’t do the work. If you own a diesel vehicle or need SKIM / ECU-level service, do not call this company. They are not equipped, not qualified, and you will still be charged for nothing. 0 stars for the owner’s integrity and business practices. 1 star for the technician’s professionalism.

Great work with excellent communication. They usually call me if there's any delays and fill me in on my car's issues with honesty I haven't seen at a dealership or franchise mechanic. If you need your key fixed or eletrical diagnostic I'd recommend them easily. They'll be fair and tell you the prices up front. If I ever have any key troubles I'll be going to them in the future.
