This is one of the original best places in Jackson. I've brought some fairly rare/unique keys and have never failed to walk out with perfect duplicates, AND a smile. The proprietor is friendly, warm and an expert at her craft. Also - unlike any other locksmiths in Jackson, A-1 Lock Shop has regular and reliable open hours!!
Update: My wife bought her friend's old car. Only one ignition key. We need at least two. Her friend advised that she paid $120 for a VATS key at the dealer. A competitor quoted me a $30 price. A1 charged me just $20 and insisted that I try it to make sure it worked before she'd take my money. I could have driven away! Of course it worked! She's the best! Fast, friendly, accurate service. Always get our keys made here.
I recommend A 1 lock shop. The owner was very helpful, so helpful in fact, I gave a tip. I also took the next step and called friends in my area and told them of my experience. I wish my endeavors worked out as well as my visit there.... And this recommendation is all over a couple of hard to find keys.
10 Star rating for A-1! I restored a vintage Gerstner tool case but I had no key for it. The lock is the only way to close and latch the case. Gerstner offered no help. I took the lock to A-1 and they were skilled enough, determined enough, and kind enough to make a key from a blank to operate the lock. This kind of skill is so rare today. This kind of customer service is also so rare today. So happy I went to A-1 and they solved my problem for me! ??
Excellent service. Rekeyed Schlage deadbolt lockset that I had lost the key for, while I waited... then looked up the service manual to help me program it and figure out I had reassembled it incorrectly. In-shop work only, but that means they're not gone on service calls when you stop by during store hours, too. (2021)Stopped in to get some Schlage patio (sliding glass door) locks rekeyed.
