I got a quote for a new key fob and programming and they quoted me $285. This seemed a little steep and so I decided to call around, and Howdy Lock & Key quoted me $190 for a fob that was the exact fob as my original. Lubbock Lock & Key doesn’t even need to be charging that and yet they still do! Moral of the story…call around! Some of these places are just looking for a money grab!
Brought in 4 locks that were all difficult to open. After $150 rebuild (they're not cheap locks to begin with) they were just as difficult to open. After struggling to open one, noticed springs were coming out of the tumbler. Took it back to have them fix it, they tried to charge me for the "repair"! Then told me that the problem with the locks was that my key was worn. And they could not get me new ones, " you'll have to go where you purchased the locks". Well they are not in business, so what do I do? Their reply "I don't know".Well why rebuild 4 locks if the problem was "a key"? How can a dealer for a brand of lock (& they are) not be able to get replacement keys? How do you charge to fix a lock you just "rebuilt"?... Another dealer got me 2 keys!, & it cost less than half the rebuild! and they work smooth now!Yesterday I called to speak with a manager & discuss these concerns. Response was odd to say the least & he never even asked my name, nor what type of locks they were. Just "I'll have to look into this. But doesn't know my name, nor date of service, or even what was repaired! Yea, he's gonna' look into it!I'll never go back!In response to "owners reply":Well your "reply" doesn't seem to have much truth to it, & avoids addressing any of the real issues: 1) un-necessarily rebuilding locks (cost $150), 2) THEN saying the problem is the key, 3) Attempting to charge for putting the guts back into a lock after you've rebuilt it, 4) Lying about my ability to get new keys. 5) Then doing it AGAIN in your "owners reply". Keep in mind that the manufacturer confirms that "you CAN indeed get the keys", but also said y'all "were less than helpful" when "they" spoke with you. Also the manufacturer helped me get new keys, YOU ALL DID NOT!! 6) when a manager says "I'll have look into this" but doesn't even bother to ask my name?In conclusion: if there was any concern here in doing the right thing; You all should have told me in "the beginning" that the key was the problem. And at this point, you all should refund what I paid for the work that obviously did not need to be done. Oh and how about being HONEST instead of the antithesis?
Vicki the coordinator handled my call and issue with ease, clarity, and care. Over two days from 2/12/26-2/13/26 i had attempted to reach or get service from 3 different locksmiths from the lubbock region and I ended up pretty disappointed because I couldn't get a call back after i had to navigate their automated systems. One of them told me theyre busy all the way through next week...who knows that theyre gonna lose their keys a week in advance?Vikki at Lubbock Lock and Key was the only coordinator that called me back after submitting a service call, she checked up on me without asking her to, after time had passed to make sure someone was coordinating with me to get my issue resolved.I am someone who likes to talk to a person, a human, an American when i need emergency assistance. Here at Lubbock Lock and Key, I can say i am pleased with these folks.
The staff was amazing and so sweet! I didn't know what was wrong with my key fob. He took it to the back. Brought it back quickly. Needed a battery. I know it was a simple fix but the service from everyone was amazing. Every customer that was there was treated with the up most respect.
Extremely quick service and great selection for a variety of keys! I'd love to come back to get extra keys and key fobs for my car. I love supporting a local business!
