The process from our first call to get the in-person estimate to quickly adjusting dates and locations on the pick up and delivery of our household property could not have gone any smoother. It felt like we had family on our side making sure everything went exactly as planned. We highly recommended the Team in Bloomington-Normal, Il.
Wes and Jason did a great job loading and unloading; similarly the packers did a great job packing (one missing piece but that is probably because it was small and got lost in all of the packing paper, so our bad). The front door jam on our old place got a bit roughed up but all things considered, a pretty smooth move.
My husband and I contracted with Allied Van Lines/1913 Movers in Normal, IL in July 2023. I must say that in the beginning everything went very well. Doug Wallace the sales person was knowledgeable and professional. Chris and his team who actually moved our furniture exceeded our expectations. Tina was helpful as well. We were completely satisfied up to that point. Because we did a lot of the packing on our own and got rid of some furniture the dollar amount of our quote changed. Therefore we expected and was promised a refund. The contract said it would take 2-3 weeks to get the credit refund. We called to check on our refund and spoke to Tina numerous times. My husband called and I called but was told she was checking with accounting. Tina said she was looking into it and accounting wasn’t getting back to her. After 2 months extremely upset i finally asked for the person in charge. It was obvious they did not want to issue the credit refund. I finally spoke to Todd Martel Director of Administration who said they did a reassessment and would only offer us a lower amount. I adamantly disagree and state that we had a statement from them with the assembly amount and the credit amount due to us. I expected the amount we were promised. After back and forth agreed. So, after all this I rate the company three stars because I am not sure they can be trusted to work honestly and fairly with there clients. Thank God we kept documents of every transaction.
The estimate and planning process went well but the move was, and still is, a problem. The driver was unprofessional and complained about how much stuff we were moving. He complained to the other people packing. He complained to people on the phone. He made snarky comments while we were in the room. This made it very uncomfortable for my family and made us feel like hoarders. This continued for 2 full days of packing and loading. We also found several items that were not packed and had to specifically ask them to be packed. There were several cabinets that were not packed that we had to ask to be packed. There were several items that were not loaded into the truck as well from the garage that we had to ask to be loaded. Due to how uncomfortable we felt and how every time we asked the driver to load/pack something we were met with frustration and rudeness, we stopped asking and left stuff at the house.Once we arrived at the new location days later the complaining continued during the unload. Comments were made to the hired help about how much stuff we had and how much we extra work there was because of that.Once everything was unloaded there were several damaged items and items with missing pieces that I wanted to mark on the invoice. I was told by the driver not to. He told me unpack and make sure we have everything accounted for and then submit a claim as sometimes things are put in different boxes. He is the company representative and with no one else to contact after being uncomfortable the entire unload I took his guidance as I just wanted him gone.As we started unpacking it just got worse. Boxes were stuffed with items with little or no care. It looks like the dumped drawers and emptied cabinets into boxes with no consideration for what was in there. Cans from the pantry were put haphazardly on top of bags of pasta causing them to break open.I have since filed a claim for some damages and my claim is being denied because I did not mark it any issues on the packing sheet at the specific direction of the company representative. This was a very unprofessional and uncomfortable move and I will never hire movers again. Hopefully we don’t find anymore issues as we are still unpacking.
I’m extremely dissatisfied with the move to Alabama! For the over $10,000.00 I paid for your service I would have expected a much better job. Many of my boxes ( at least 30 ) were smashed. My China cabinet base was broken. My air fryer had the handle broken off. I had 3 bed with head boards and none of them were put back together properly!!! I could go on!!! To top it off. Baba the driver did not make an accurate listing of all my items! We had many missing items but couldn’t figure out what they were because the inventory was not specific even though all the items that I packed were labeled. This was the most expensive fiasco that I have ever experienced!! The movers made what should have been a very happy move into a horrible situation! I will tell everyone I encounter not to use Allied!
