I’ve used the College Hunks for both moving and Junk removal and both times were amazing! They were quick and efficient and very friendly! They were so helpful in moving my stuff and I can’t stress enough how fast they were! I’ve loved both experiences with them and will continue to use them in the future! I have relocated more than 25 times in my lifetime. A friend of mine in New York, who owns a moving company, assists with my New York moves while I utilize college students for local moves. This is the second time I have moved a family member in the Sarasota area, and the service was excellent both times. The last time, we had two exceptional individuals assisting us, although I regrettably forgot their names. About a year and a half ago, Bailey and Darryl were sent to help me. Their packing skills were unparalleled - they maximized the space in one storage unit to save me money, showcasing their expertise and efficiency. Bailey and Darryl truly excel at what they do. I was so impressed that if I still had my business, I would have tried to recruit them. Their professionalism in handling the items and fitting everything into the storage unit was remarkable. Despite being two hours late, which was not their fault due to an overbooked schedule, they managed to turn a potentially bad situation into a much better one. Thank you, gentlemen, for your outstanding work. If I ever move again, I will definitely request your services and ask specifically for BAILEY & DARRYL, even if it means changing my moving date. I am submitting a formal complaint regarding services provided by College Hunks Moving in Sarasota.

Prior to the move, I provided the salesperson with a detailed list of all items to be moved. Based on this information, I was quoted $1,700, with an estimated duration of approximately six hours. On the day of the move, the crew arrived on time and was courteous; however, the move ultimately took more than double the estimated time (9am-9:30pm), causing the total cost to increase from $1,700 to $3,600.

Throughout the move, the lead crew member repeatedly apologized for the extended duration, stating that the two other crew members were new and working slowly. Additionally, the crew members were frequently wearing AirPods and taking personal calls during the move. They also appeared to struggle with handling several pieces of furniture, which raised concerns about their experience and professionalism.

During the move, the crew severely damaged my Large Big Green Egg grill, valued at $1,800. The damage occurred due to clear negligence: a worker attempted to unload the approximately 200-pound grill without proper control, causing it to fall to the ground and break. The grill is now unusable.

When I contacted the company to file a complaint, I was informed that the company was “going above and beyond” by offering a $1,600 refund, which does not cover the cost of replacing the damaged grill. I was also told that the company was not obligated to pay for a replacement. When I raised concerns regarding the excessive time and inaccurate quote, I was told that the original estimate was “just a quote.” While I understand that estimates may vary due to unforeseen circumstances, doubling both the time and cost of the move is unreasonable and strongly resembles a bait-and-switch business practice.

As a result, what was originally quoted as a $1,700 move has effectively become a $6,000 expense when factoring in the cost of replacing my grill.

When I asked why the move took so long, I was told it was due to the type of items I own. This explanation is unacceptable, as I moved just eight months ago with another moving company—arranged through Offerpad—and that move involved more furniture and was completed in approximately six hours. Despite this comparison, College Hunks Moving was unable to provide a reasonable explanation for the excessive time taken.

Additionally, the manager I spoke with stated that I had signed an addendum approving the additional hours. This addendum was presented at the end of the move, after services had already been completed and payment was being made. When I asked about company policy regarding addendums, the manager stated there was no formal policy and acknowledged that presenting such documentation at the end of a move is not typically done and is not considered best business practice.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this experience and believe it reflects poor business practices, inadequate staffing, and a failure to take responsibility for property damage caused by negligence. I am requesting appropriate resolution, including full compensation for the damaged grill and reconsideration of the excessive charges incurred during this move.

The Movers were super nice. The Movers took their time since it’s an hourly rate. Some of my furniture pieces were not packed carefully and got scratched. I requested the Movers pack a few pieces of furniture for me for an additional fee but was not done to my liking.
The Movers could have communicated better when packing the Truck. Some items didn’t fit in their Truck. I had to finish the move the following day on my own.
My experience could have been better.

Fantastic service. Best move ever.
The team was courteous and professional. They packed our Uhaul quickly and although I was doubtful all our belongings would fit into the truck, these guys made it happen. They also delivered unwanted furniture in the same trip to friends.
