Since opening my window coverings business a few years ago, I’ve spent a lot of time getting to know other business owners in the NC Triangle. Between the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties, Wake Up Wednesdays in Pittsboro, and my weekly Bull City Business Leaders BNI meetings in Durham, I’ve had the chance to meet a lot of great people.

Over the past year and a half, I’ve come to know, like, and trust Doug Carlton of Truckin Movers. If you’re local, you may already know Truckin Movers is a Durham institution. We’re proud of Duke, the Bulls, our medical community, our diversity, good eats, and the arts but Truckin Movers is one of those legacy brands that’s quietly helped connect Durham to the world.
Founded in 1976 by Duke grad and Navy veteran Doug Carlton, Truckin has moved residential and commercial cargo to and from every continent… except Antarctica (I’ve heard Doug and his colleague Jeff Philips say it more than a few times). After 50 years in business, close to 20,000 moves, perennial BBB recognition and Best of Durham awards, and an average employee tenure of 10+ years that speaks to an incredible culture, it is clear that Truckin Movers is much more than a masterclass of a global moving company. I hired Truckin Movers because they were a small local owned business and they did not disappoint. I inherited some vintage furniture that was very sentimental and valuable and needed movers from NY to NC. Not only was their quote excellent, but their service was even more amazing. The sales team was very responsive as I had to move everything quickly and the crew took excellent care of my furniture. I highly recommend them and they will be my first call if I ever need anything moved locally or cross country.

I have finally recovered from moving my family across country. The easiest part was the actual moving because of Truckin' Movers. From the beginning of the process to the end, I was impressed and delighted at their professionalism and their systems! They have learned all the lessons and know exactly how to making packing and moving as stress free as possible. They moved my 4 person sauna and my SUV as well! Terrific communication the entire time and incredible, kind, well priced service!
