Customer feedback is mixed, with many noting successful long-distance deliveries and items arriving in good condition. Common concerns include broad pickup/delivery windows and communication about timelines. Pricing clarity and weight estimates are mentioned as pain points in several critical reviews. Positive notes highlight responsive updates for some moves and intact delivery of belongings and vehicles.

I used Centennial Moving for my long distance move from Winnipeg to Montreal. The arrangements were made through moving waldo. I recommend them for streamlining the whole process. A couple things that made the process a bit inconvenient was I was given quite large pickup and drop off periods of over 10 days and told that the company would confirm only 24 hours before pickup or drop off. If given such a period I'd say expect them closer to the end of that period, that's how it was for me anyways.(pickup and dropoff) The other not super great thing was that my stuff took over a month to arrive. I do understand that the company is moving multiple people across the country and they are sharing my truck. My stuff had many stops along the way so it does make sense that it took that long but I wasn't totally expecting it to. It was however within the time frame they gave me. Again, when they let you know the dates that your stuff could arrive, id advise to expect it closer to the end of that time period. The crew picking up and dropping off were both great. Any furniture they disassemble at pickup, they fully reassemble at drop off. All my furniture was wrapped well and only my desk had any damage. (some bolts were not holding as tight) For boxes, i recommend using good sturdy ones with lots of tape because the boxes are being moved so many times many of them were in pretty rough shape. I was impressed to find only one thing had been broken though (a fruit bowl... Who needs fruit anyways?) I'd like to thank Centennial moving for their help in this big change in my life.

I hired Centennial Moving for my move from Surrey, BC to Calgary, AB, and it was a terrible experience. They originally quoted me $1,170 based on about 700 lbs of items, but after pickup they suddenly claimed the weight was 1,600 lbs and raised the cost to nearly $1,700. When I disputed it, they re-weighed it at 1,290 lbs (with no certified proof) and still overcharged me.

I had clearly told them I wouldn’t get my Calgary apartment keys until October 15, yet they scheduled delivery for October 13 anyway. They missed a confirmed delivery on October 17, finally delivered on October 22, and then charged extra “warehouse and handling fees,” even though their own terms say customers aren’t responsible for company delays.

Avoid doing business with Centennial Moving. If something like this happens to you, contact Consumer Protection Ontario, Consumer Protection Alberta, and the Canadian Transportation Agency right away.

Would you like me to make a version that sounds a bit more neutral and professional (for maximum credibility), or keep this direct and warning-style (which tends to resonate more with other customers)?

I recently had a long-distance move from Vancouver to Ottawa with Centennial Moving, and overall, I had a positive experience. I'd like to share the pros and cons of my experience to help others make an informed decision when choosing a moving company.

Pros:
Timely delivery: It took about a month for all my items to be delivered, which is acceptable for a long-distance move.
No damage: I was relieved to find that there were no issues with my belongings upon arrival - no broken furniture or damaged items.
Honest pricing: The cost of the move was fair, and I appreciated that there were no hidden fees.

Cons:
Last-minute fee change: The day before the moving out was scheduled, the company tried to charge a higher fee due to some stairways. While I understand that additional work may sometimes warrant a higher fee, the late notice and lack of prior communication left me feeling uneasy and somewhat taken advantage of.

In conclusion, Centennial Moving provided a satisfactory long-distance moving experience, and I would recommend their services for those who need to move across the country. Just be sure to clarify all fees and potential charges beforehand to avoid any last-minute surprises.

I moved from Toronto to Edmonton. I choose centennial to move my belongings and a car. Excellent service. Always updating you. The car took 4 weeks to arrive and arrived in very good conditions. Also the belonging in good conditions. Nothing got missing or damaged.

I am shocked by how poorly I was served this time. Long waiting times, sketchy last-minute cash flow problems, and all my stuff in terrible shape.

I used this company with no problems two years ago which is why I picked them for my move from Calgary to Halifax.
I got the same great customer service right up until they had 95% of my worldly possessions on their truck. I had asked when our stuff would arrive and had been told that a truck leaves Toronto headed east each month on the 15th. I had also seen the "long" estimate of 21 business days. It took 6 WEEKS to get our stuff! That's 32 business days!

Finally I was notified we would be getting our stuff on the 29th. Just a few days before, suddenly they emailed me to ask if I could pay a portion in cash. As a 5'2" 125lbs woman, I'm not always comfortable carrying large amounts of cash. I asked why and they said to cover travel expenses. I asked if they needed a few hundred or up to a thousand and they asked for nearly $2400 in cash! After I protested this, they walked it back saying "no one was forcing me" (Who hasn't heard that line before? Not forcing, only holding on to all my stuff for the last 6 weeks...Hello power dynamic...) and they would accept an e-transfer.

They chose exactly this moment to kindly remind me that they could also charge me even more if it's a long enough walk from the parking lot to my apartment. A fact that was really clearly spelled out in our contract but which was now coming off as a thinly veiled threat.

The leader of the movers who brought my stuff told me they actually needed the cash to pay their guys and only had enough on them to pay them up until the end of tomorrow (Super sketchy). He also lost my paperwork so I had nothing to sign and no final bill of lading.

Which I then needed-- to file a claim because they broke my $3500 elliptical and our 55" TV. See how smashed up my boxes and bins were? Those totes were the same ones I used to move before and they somehow arrived intact last time. This time, they're all trashed. It's like they threw all my boxes down the stairs. Larger items arrived rewrapped with their identifying tags missing. Boxes had half the tape pulled up, and had big gaps from being squashed. A lot of things had to be washed because the squashed boxes were also strangely filled with dust and grime. I have included only a few pictures as examples of what things looked like. The only reason more of my things weren't smashed to pieces is because most things were well wrapped inside their boxes and bins in bubble wrap and butcher paper.

I emailed them to let them know how upset I was and all I got back was a copy paste message directing me to go through the claims process. I am not optimistic about the results of that. We'll recover our things, we have private insurance as well, but I'm still completely disgusted by the total disregard they have shown here. What a gong show.

Update: They've let me know I'm not entitled to any compensation because I had basic protection. So because I didn't pay the extra "protection fee" they are free and clear to smash up 500lbs of stuff before they owe me a nickle. That's right folks-- I'll admit it here and now. Centennial Movers fully met their contractual obligations. This is what I signed up for and it's on me. This is what you sign up for.

Frequently Asked Questions

For cross-province moves, booking a few weeks to a month ahead helps secure preferred pickup windows. Peak seasons fill quickly, so more lead time offers better scheduling options.

Pricing typically reflects shipment size or weight, distance, and any add-on services like packing or storage. Providing an accurate inventory helps align estimates with final charges.

Packing assistance and protective materials can be arranged for most moves. Ask about availability and scope when requesting a quote so the team can plan time and supplies.

Long-distance deliveries may involve multi-day to multi-week windows depending on route and load consolidation. Final timing is often confirmed closer to pickup and delivery dates.

Short-term storage can be added to a long-distance plan. Let the coordinator know your dates so they can propose storage timing and associated costs.
