This is the third time that I've used Metcalf. I've been very happy with them each time. This particular time the young man were amazingly strong and quick. They had awesome personalities and I really enjoyed chatting with them as they did their job.The office personnel are also awesome. From the time that the phone gets answered with Melissa or Rita and the dealings that I also had with Ryan to schedule the move they were very helpful and I could tell they had Smiles on LOL if( God forbid ) I move again you can bet that I will call metcalf.
I felt that the local help from Byron seemed friendly; however, the final cost was much higher than we discussed ($20,000!). Also, several items were crushed and broken in the process of moving. One of the workers stole 9 drawers of my jewelry. I had insurance but was only told it was in effect for 30 days, after I had purchased the insurance. Someone stole my wedding ring and another very expensive ring. When the company was informed, I heard “there’s nothing we can do “, not even an apology! Do not use this company, ever!!! Run away from Mayflower Moving!
Sadly, we are less than impressed with Metcalf. We chose a large reputable company because it was necessary to store all our belongings for several months, however we found that our belongings were not well cared for. Our pick up crew was amazing, they carefully loaded and inventoried everything. But that could not have been the case when the items got to the warehouse. We had broken furniture (expensive amish made); we had scratched furniture; we had broken dishes (very well packed); we had a ladder that was lost; and many of the boxes were crushed! Most of those were clearly marked “TOP LOAD” or “PLEASE LOAD ON TOP”. The delivery crew was good, but strongly encouraged us to sign off as everything was acceptable because we would have difficulty trying to keep up with five people and direct the location of the boxes. Also the crew was all new, inexperienced employees with the exception of one. We asked for the original crew to come back, but our request was ignored. In the end, we received $11 for a $90 ladder, and $90 towards the $200+ furniture repair bill. Many items broken we did not bother filing a claim. We would definitely not store our belongings in their warehouse again and rather rent a pod so there was only one loading and unloading process.
Outstanding! Metcalf stored our household goods and delivered them to our new apartment. They were very easy to work with, courteous, treated our things with care, cooperated with our building management and worked efficiently. We changed our moving plans several times, and they handled the changes gracefully, with no extra cost except for reasonable rent for additional storage time. I will definitely hire Metcalf again.
The moving crew with Metcalf Moving did an excellent job loading, storing and unloading all of our belongings. Everything was handled with care, as if it belonged to their own grandparents!They placed all of my furniture carefully, exactly where I wanted it and even helped situate the beds after i assembled them. An added bonus, their pricing beat the other big companies we received bids from. I highly recommend Metcalf Moving & Storage.
