I rented a storage unit from them, which turned out to be practically inaccessible. When they picked up my furniture for delivery, no blankets were placed over it. When I finally retrieved my furniture and boxes a year and a half later, everything was filthy, and half the items in the boxes were broken. We had to buy a new bed frame because the one that came from the warehouse was so dirty and torn. Some things are missing, including a TV stand that they were supposed to repair, but to this day, I haven't heard from them. I absolutely do not recommend this company. I gave them one star, but if I could give them fewer, I would.
On November 15, 2025, the moving day, they were supposed to be there at 8:00 AM. They arrived at 3:00 AM. We were leaving from Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc in New Brunswick. They arrived at 3:00 AM on Saturday in New Brunswick to finish the balance. They broke an antique kitchen set and a dish set—everything was smashed. In addition, we are missing ramps for my wheelchair, the rack that attaches to the car's hitch for transporting wheelchairs, and a brand new BBQ from last summer. Furthermore, they put two TVs facing each other in the same box with no protection between them. These are the movers they call movers! I called them to tell them, and they said they would send me a claim form, but it says $100.00 to open the file. It's a real joke! We hire movers because we think, if they break something, at least they have something to cover it with, at least they're insured for our belongings. If I had known, I would have chosen a different company. Movers. Very bad experience with them, I do not recommend them.
Overall, the day went relatively well. This was the second time we'd used Martel. The only problem was that they didn't pack all but three pieces of furniture. Luckily, nothing was broken. When I called for the quote, I clearly stated that they needed a large truck to avoid two trips, but they didn't listen, and I had to pay for an extra two hours. That's why I'm giving them 3 out of 5 stars.
