Recent reviews frequently mention challenges with communication, scheduling, and administrative follow-through. Some customers reported long move days and concerns with inventory accuracy. Others noted positive experiences with careful packing and courteous crews, particularly on certain long-distance and military moves. Overall feedback is mixed, with consistency and responsiveness being recurring themes.
Some issues here. I've completed four interstate moves in the past 10 years and have used professional movers each time, so I know what a competent operation looks like. Coast Transfer fell short of that standard. The process was unnecessarily challenging from start to finish. Communication was unreliable, and the company struggled with basic administrative tasks like scheduling delivery and issuing an invoice for payment. Emails went unanswered, and nearly every step required repeated follow-up calls. Our Move Manager, Suzie F., was disorganized and scattered, and was dismissive and defensive when asked for basic accountability. The packing crew was efficient with space, which saved us money, but the inventory and labeling of our goods was a hot mess. We still have no idea where many things are.If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I would recommend looking elsewhere.Edit to add - Mayflower has not responded to us. Also, as we've unpacked, we've found damage to irreplaceable heirlooms. Framed family pictures were packed in the same box as garden tools, for example.
We would not use Coast Transfer again. This wasn't our first move, and we're familiar with how professional moving services operate. Coast Transfer made a straightforward process far more difficult than necessary.Communication was consistently poor, and our move manager was inefficient and uncoordinated. Emails were not answered, and routine steps like scheduling and billing required multiple follow-ups. When we raised concerns, the move manager was curt and indifferent.A professional moving service should simplify a move and minimize the burden on customers. That was not our experience with Coast Transfer. We experienced a general lack of organization and very little proactive management. If you want a mover that is organized, responsive, and easy to work with, we'd recommend choosing a different company.
Really disappointed with the cost for value here. 1 bedroom apartment 1 person, moving 9 miles down the road. Perhaps because of this easy move they assigned me their "C" team, who showed up ready to complain that there were 3 flights of stairs and no elevator at my apartment complex. One showed up assumingly hungover or sick and made it a point to use both old bathroom and new bathroom to relieve himself of that. The move took all day with 4-5 people whereas when I did a similar move the year ago, IVL took half the time for the same packing & moving with 2 people, without complaining the whole time. They managed to drop my new desk down a flight of stairs, completely ruined that. Took forever to replace. Scratched all my walls up in the process. Corners on 3 of my tables are scratched, dented and damaged. They managed to actually lose a few smaller items, which is really impressive since they are the ones who packed them. They didnt want to take a part a couch to take upstairs, so out of frustration and exhaustion, they just hauled off a brand new $800 couch. After all of this, they had the audacity to complain some more about my tip on their way out of my apartment building.Unsurprisingly, I have had no response from the insurance claim I submitted to their office months ago, with no comment on the awful experience I had.I thought nearly $2000 for a same city, 1 bedroom pack and move was a lot, but I paid for what I thought would be a low stress, convenient and efficient move. What I got was the most unprofessional, sloppy move I've ever experienced. I should have just paid someone to help me move it myself at this rate.Find a different moving company that values its customers and their belongings.
Coast Transfer & Storage was responsible for handling our military move.Susie, who was great to deal with, was very helpful but everything else regarding the move was just disappointing to say the least. The movers were unprofessional and their household goods inventory was put together in such a sloppy manner that many items were missing or left off their list entirely. If you are presented with this company as an option for your PCS, be ready to spend an exorbitant amount of time ensuring that they haven’t made errors or it will end up costing you when it comes to replacing missing or damaged items. It was their errors that have left us unable to file claims that will allow us to see any compensation for the items that went missing under their supervision.Their lackluster effort when it comes to moving military members just shows that they are counting on your claim officer to pick up the slack. In the end, we just cut our losses. I’m sure that their attention to detail is significantly higher for private clients but for those who need a military move done, do whatever you can to have another company in the area do it and save yourself the headache.
The military picked this company to move my husband and I's belongings to Virginia back in February. The two men that packed up and loaded our belongings were amazing. They were professional and took care of our belongings. They explained the process and made us feel reassured, for this was our first big move. Nothing was lost or broken on delivery day.
