Customer feedback is mixed. Positive notes mention friendly crews and helpful movers during local moves between nearby towns. Critical reviews raise concerns about packing quality, furniture protection, and perceived value for smaller jobs. Prospective customers often ask about padding, materials, and timing in advance to set expectations.
450 dollars to move a bed and a washing machine 8 miles.Rent a uhaul and do it your self.I walk with a cane and can do the job in half the time solo from what they quoted me 2 would take 2 hours to move a washing machine and a queen bed 8 miles.
We used this company for moving from Lewisville to Kernersville and they were so helpful, kind, and gracious! Kamari M. And Tyrell W. were the best movers were could ask for! Friendly, Strong, and Dependable! My wife and I recommend this company, and those individuals to anyone who needs help!
Customer Beware! We used Hunks for moving out of our home in June. The young men who came to help us were very nice, hardworking, professional.HOWEVER, they were clearly not experienced or qualified movers. Scratched several furniture pieces. Dropped a dresser on our sidewalk. Used basically no padding to protect our furniture when moving into storage units, and as such, we have sustained damage to many of our items.Further, when we have attempted to contact management to discuss this issue (on multiple occasions) we have had little to no response. Very disappointing.I suspect they are good at junk services etc. But do not consider them professional movers for items of value to your home. They are not trained for that.
The packing service was awful. They arrived with zero packing material. Thankfully I had enough on hand. Most of my boxes were half empty, wrapped poorly and barely taped shut. One of the packers had to literally teach one of the employees how to tape a box right in front of me…. I should’ve known then just how poor the service would be. I reached out to customer service and have been waiting to hear back from this local store. I’ve received zero communication. I would not recommend this store to anyone!!!! I had to repack my stuff once the packers were gone and I was loading my car. I would like a refund and no one is calling me back.Update: got pushed to call customer service. AGAIN. and nothing is being done to help resolve the issue and give me back my money. I literally had to repack everything because as you can see, the boxes are half empty. Please give me my money back.
If you value any of your possessions, do not use College Hunks! The only thing going for this company is that they were the more affordable option. I would give them less than one star, if that were an option. We hired College Hunks to load our possessions onto a trailer to move from North Carolina to Maine and have been appalled at the service provided. When I talked to Tyler to initially get a quote from College Hunks, I was assured that their movers were trained and professional. In a later phone call, when I scheduled College Hunks, Tyler recommended I buy moving blankets and ratchet straps before the move, and that the movers would dissemble furniture, pad it, and use the straps to secure items in our trailer.Unfortunately, that was not at all what happened and I regret not supervising them the day of the move. Our 12-pack of moving blankets—that the movers themselves said they would use—were not used, except by us to pad a particularly fragile piece of furniture. Many of our high-quality pieces of furniture were loaded upside down or on their side with finished wood faces in direct and unprotected contact with the rough floor of the trailer, resulting in numerous deep and irreparable scratches and gouges. A chair was loaded with its legs on the armrest of a leather sofa, causing the leather to be punctured. A coffee table was wedged and torqued in such a way to cause its legs to break off! These are only a few examples—most of our furniture is destroyed or damaged to the point that somewhere like Habitat Restore wouldn’t even accept it. The boxes were also loaded very poorly, with lighter boxes--clearly labeled “pillows” or “bedding”--and plastic bins nearly universally underneath stacks of heavier boxes. This caused the stacks of boxes to collapse and topple, crushing many of our items. Our box of dishes was completely obliterated.I am deeply disappointed in the lack of training and professionalism that these movers showed—not at all what was promised. I am also very disappointed in how the owner of the local franchise handled our claim: After 6 phone calls and 2 voicemails with the local franchise as well as 2 phone calls with the national chain over a 48-hour period, we finally reached the local office. It took them 8 days to get back to us and when they did return our phone call, they said our story was completely different from what the movers said they did, and he trusted the movers so they “wouldn’t be settling.” We were shocked, given that we had submitted photos of what the truck looked like, which was completely different from what the movers apparently reported to the owner.I understand that some items will be damaged or even broken in transit, but I never expected anything approaching the level of destruction caused by College Hunks. We have conservatively estimated > $8,000 in damages—and we’re still nowhere close to being done unpacking! Even the movers we hired in Maine (who were fabulous) to unload the trailer were aghast at the shoddy work done by College Hunks and said they had never such a terrible move and that “this gives all movers a bad name.”College Hunks claims to be a professional moving company, but in our experience, they are negligent, lack accountability, and provide horrendous customer service. Do not use this company to move!
