I had a very disappointing experience with Hansell Paints in Raleigh/Durham.First, the pricing was absolutely outlandish. I understand that specialty finishes like Portola limewash come at a premium, but the quotes felt inflated well beyond reasonable market value. $4,800 for one bedroom. Really? Does the paint have gold in it? I think not.Second, the sales representative, Travis, was extremely pushy and came across as pompous. Rather than providing guidance or education about the product, the tone felt condescending and sales-drive as if I should feel honored to have them paint my house. It made what should have been a collaborative design decision feel uncomfortable.Most importantly, the actual Portola limewash finish they completed for Kennon Construction (the builder of the home I purchased) is, at best, average. The edges around the windows are already showing white through the gray limewash. The coverage is inconsistent in several areas, and the finish is very difficult—if not impossible—to properly touch up without it looking patched.For a company positioning itself as premium, the execution simply does not justify the cost or the attitude.I would strongly recommend going with someone else.
