I chose That1 because of all of the 5 star reviews originally - but someone else beat Troy out on price. He offered to lower the price slightly (still higher than the other quote) for a good review on Google. Given all of the stellar reviews, I mistakenly thought I would be safe…

Started out great, but then the job lasted over a month instead of 1.5 weeks, they severely scratched up brand new floors that had just been installed, and there was unremovable paint in the main bathroom sink so we had to replace it. Even worse, we have massive cracks between the molding and ceiling, and Troy refuses to honor the warranty (has stopped replying)

I’m not sure how he doesn’t have any poor reviews, but for me this was certainly a case of too good to be true.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with That 1 Painter. Our home had years of ivy growth, chipping paint, and general wear — and Troy (one of the owners) truly transformed it. From start to finish, he was patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly thorough. When we mentioned a house nearby that had the perfect brick color, Troy even went the extra mile and knocked on their door to find out the exact shade.

The team worked efficiently, took great care with every detail, and made sure we were completely satisfied before wrapping up. The difference is night and day — our house looks brand new again. We’d highly recommend That 1 Painter to anyone looking for quality, integrity, and true craftsmanship.

Very pleasant experience. Customer service was EXCELLENT!! Witt was very professional. Luis and Darwin did a great job on my ceilings. They made sure I was satisfied. I had other home projects going on at the same time, and they patiently worked around my schedule without making me feel like I was inconveniencing them. Highly Recommend!!

We met Troy at the RVA Home Show. We discussed a project we had in mind and set an appointment to come to our home to give us an estimate. After going over the scope of the project, we gave him the go ahead. The contract came in our email, and the down payment and final balance were made electronically. All so very easy. We set a start date and time and we were kept informed when the staff would arrive, traffic delays, etc.

Once we were gathered together, we toured the house and the work started. All of the furniture, floors, cabinets and wall decorations were covered. (We were having all of the ceilings painted). At the end of the work day, there was absolutely no mess. The job was completed much quicker than I expected. The wall part of the project was completed in half a day.

Over all we are very pleased. The staff was polite and professional, we communicated with Troy daily. Any touch ups and concerns were promptly dealt with, with a smile. Overall, a pleasant experience.

I do plan on contacting That 1 Painter again after the holidays for another project.

I strongly recommend you give them a try.

Exceptionally pleased with every aspect of the process of That 1 Painter; especially, the end result of a complete kitchen painting project (cabinets, walls, ceiling, crown/base, doors/casings)! Troy Clark (owner) is exceptionally knowledgeable in his trade and was actively engaged from initial consultation thru project completion. His painting crew introduced a new level of attention to detail in the quality of their craftsmanship and pride in their work; a very rare quality found with home improvement contractors.

My wife and I cannot praise Troy Clark’s franchise of “That 1 Painter” high enough! If you are seeking a company for a painting project where high levels of customer service, satisfaction and attention to detail come standard, you need not look any further; contact Troy and prepare yourself to be amazed with the process and project outcome!
