To whom it may concern:Please note that I agreed with Shawn Lewis of Patriot Painting for a paint job at my home. I advanced him $250 for paint and supplies. Shawn never showed up on the day we had scheduled. I tried to contact him throughout the entire day, and finally got a hold of him late that evening. He said that he had been in an accident, but was coming the next day. The following day, he showed up two hours late and seemed to be intoxicated or on drugs. I cancelled the job and demanded he refund my advance payment, which he never did. I highly recommend that you avoid using this company as it is not trustworthy. Shawn is the owner and painter of this company.
My Family had Shawn and his wife come out to paint our cabinets, Rail, front Door and 2 exterior doors!! They did a great job and we were very pleased with the outcome. They worked under tough conditions considering my folks did not wanna leave their home and stay in a hotel ??and Shawn was very accommodating to all of us, and they worked around it considering the circumstances. Thanks again and we will have you guys back soon ??
For reference when I hire a subcontractor I’m looking for someone who holds themselves accountable, follows through with verbal commitments, and respects my property. With these criteria in mind, Sean, who painted our home months ago, was not a good fit:Pros:Finished on time.Used the correct paint.Cons:Poor quality application and workmanship:- paint drips throughout the house—in the corners where walls meet, on trim, and dripping from the wall texture. See pics 1, 2- areas of sparse paint coverage—randomly throughout the house (above the shower, in the hall, transitions between rooms) and especially severe within window recesses (causing settling of dirt to be impossible to wipe away). Living in the home is like a treasure hunt—‘OH! Another area of inadequate paint.’ See pics 3, 4- Overspray—rough patches of fine paint spray—on the front of garage doors (pic 5), on floor, on windows, and on some walls.Verbal commitments were not executed:- “we’ll roll it” —The paint drips and sparse coverage in areas throughout the home indicate the paint in the whole home was not rolled; There is only evidence of rolling in one small area.- when discussing the walls he said, “we’ll sand”—there is no evidence sanding of the walls took place. Whiskers under the paint on the bathroom wall (pic 6), paint easily coming off the wall near the kitchen (where grease accumulates), and the color of sanding dust left in the home, indicate that only trim and doors were sanded.- ‘we’ll fix that’ —The repair was not completed.Respect for the property not evident:- Patriot Painting removed air filters from the HVAC system—then reinstalled the filters (full of wet paint) backward—sending paint throughout the ductwork, onto the coil and other system components.I would not recommend this painter.UPDATE:After getting bids from another painting company in the area, which does commercial and residential painting, I discovered that MANY basic aspects of a professional paint job were not employed by Sean:Instead of recalling, he painted over caulk in the bathrooms. The paint is now peeling off, and looks terribleHe did not wipe the walls to remove dust and oil, so paint comes of the walls in the kitchen area VERY easily. He charged us multiple thousand more than a very outfit.Beware!!
We recommend Patriot Painting with our highest rating. Shawn always promptly gets back to us to answer our questions or to respond to our concerns. He and his crew worked tirelessly to complete the job. We’ve never observed craftsmen be so careful. They spent hours masking and then remasking. We were amazed at how hard they worked to meet our deadlines. The quality of their work is top shelf! Shawn/Patriot Painting are outstanding!!
The Patriot Painters just finished painting the entire interior of my home and it looks amazing. They were prompt, professional and easy to work with. Shawn was very helpful before hand answering all the questions I had. Their pricing was fair, and their estimate of the time required to finish the project was spot on. The house was ready to move back into when they were done--no clean up required! They will certainly be at the top of my list for any future painting needs and I highly recommend them.
