Workmanship on repairs and installations is often praised when technicians are on site, though a few reviews cite communication gaps about next steps or inspections. Overall ratings indicate generally positive outcomes with occasional service variability.
This review is based on my recent experiance of having American Brothers come out and trouble shoot a Rheem water heater they installed for me about 3 years ago. A tech was sent out initially to trouble shoot why my hot water was not lasting as long all of a sudden after three years. He performed a "fill my tub test" and after filling it half way with hot water , figured it was good. It was not good and about a week later and having the same hot water duration probelm I called and the same tech was sent out again. Before this appointment , I did some research of my own to try and trouble shoot the water heater myself. I drained and flushed it with no sign of any debris , which was surpising considerning the hard water where I live. I stopped short of inspecting the "dip tube" which by most accounts was probably the probelem if their was no sediment build up. The tech came out again and after a short discussion and my input about the dip tube , he was pretty adament that it was not dip tube , but offered to charge me $240 to check it and this was on a water heater they installed and still under the parts warranty. Seemed way to high a cost and sent him on his way. I proceeded to check the dip tube myslef and what do you know ? It was missing or more like fallen off and was in the tank now. I called and spoke with the staff and explained everything and was to hear back with an estimate and how to get the warranty part , this was a couple of days ago, which isn't bad except this issue has been in play for almost two weeks now and I had to sort it out myself. Not good business for a cmpany whos tech left my wife a $8200 tankless water heater brochure as if I would be comfortable with Amercian Brothers ability to service such a high end and cost installation after there tech could not identify a broken dip tube. The only positive side of this is that everyone was friendly and accomadting and the tech was sent out quickly both times .
I didn’t find the service at the time particularly bad, but I thought the technician could have been more professional. The time stated they would be there was originally 8-10, then they called and stated 10-12. He was still late by over a hour and didn’t acknowledge it or apologize. We understand that things happen, but still. He also made a comment, with his tone, that was a little off putting about how his machine almost broke during the job and how long had this been going on (kinda like it was our fault) and we literally just moved in.The worst part of it was paying for the camera footage taken during the job, and calling the company several times to retrieve it. Come to find out the camera service we paid for wasn’t even recorded by the technician (the receptionist stated that’s usually discussed beforehand, but the technician didn’t do that), but he did take pictures though. We never received the pictures. We called the company four times over the course of two days, and never received a thing despite being told that we would. I could be wrong, but I don’t think they have any camera documentation and that is why they keep giving us the runaround with no results. I feel like that service was ultimately a waste of time and money!
In November 2024, I hired Plumbing Brothers to fix a water leak. They came out, did an evaluation, and told me the solution was to replace the main water line, quoting around $3,800. I agreed. The next day, someone came to excavate and expose the line, and the day after that, a different person installed the new line. That same day, they also covered the excavation.Part of the amount I paid included about $300 for a city inspection, which they said they would handle. However, the day they replaced the line, they immediately covered it without any inspector showing up. I called them to ask about it, and they insisted that the inspection had been done. I requested proof of the inspection approval, and they said they would send it by email. After two or three weeks of back-and-forth, with excuses about emails not going through and promises to mail or hand-deliver the paperwork, I found out — around February — that the inspection had never been scheduled. They admitted there was a communication error, meaning they had been giving me excuses for months instead of being honest from the start. They said they would re-expose the line and call for a proper inspection, but even after that, they stopped answering my calls and messages. While the physical work they did looks good, they charged me for something they never provided — a full and properly inspected job. If I had known this would happen, I could have hired an unlicensed contractor for $1,500–$2,000 less. It's disappointing to see a company recommended by the Water Department not follow the protocols that are supposed to ensure quality and safety. I'm sure the Water Department doesn’t realize they are recommending companies that cut corners like this.In the end, it's not just about the money — it’s about doing the job correctly and professionally. I truly hope this doesn't cause me bigger issues down the road.
American Brothers Plumbing was recommended to us by a friend in our neighborhood who is also a home inspector. We had a small leak at a connection in a drainpipe. They were able to come to our house within hours of our call. Chris and Michael created a tidy access point and made the repair on the spot. They assessed that the hairline fracture probably occurred due to natural house settling. They covered the access in a way that the area could dry, but our cat couldn’t get in. This made it safe until our contractor could finish restoration and repair of the surrounding structure. Very efficient and appropriate work. As a bonus they gave us maintenance tips on how to best keep our overall plumbing system healthy and functioning properly. We recommend this business for straight forward assessments and repairs.
Michael did an outstanding job installing my floating vanity in the guest bathroom of my older home. Given the incompatibility of the plumbing with the European-style vanity, he had to open the wall and rework the old piping, ensuring a secure and concealed installation. Although we ran into another drywall issue that I'll need to have fixed soon (due to a poor job of the previous homeowners that may cause the shelf to not be as secure), Michael said that he would return after the drywall Job is complete and reinstall the vanity shelf. All in all, the final result is a beautifully installed vanity.Throughout the process, Michael demonstrated a high level of professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency. I am thoroughly impressed with his skills and dedication to delivering quality work. I wholeheartedly recommend this company for their excellent service and the positive experience I had with Michael.
