I contacted Excavation Lavoie through my call to Plumber Chicoutimi in February 2026, and I want to share my experience to prevent others from encountering the same situation.During my call, I was quoted a rate of $125/hour, plus 30 minutes of travel time. Since it was a very simple job (replacing two Speedway pipes with two short PEX pipes for my water heater), the person on the phone and I estimated approximately 30 minutes of work, resulting in a bill of around $125.The next day, two plumbers (an apprentice and a journeyman) arrived at my home, even though I had never been told there would be two of them. They did indeed complete the job in 30 minutes.A few days later, I received a bill for $750.Here are the problematic items:- $127 in "mobilization fees" that were never mentioned on the phone.- Two plumbers were billed, even though I was led to believe only one would come.- $127.50 for a few PEX fittings that cost about five times less at a hardware store.I tried to discuss these charges with the company several times, but without success.In short: lack of transparency, hidden costs, and a final bill that bore no relation to the initial estimate. I strongly advise against using this company.
