Let me start off by saying it took us 2 years to find a pool remodel company who was trustworthy, reputable, & reliable. Prior to the Pool Guys we had other pool contractors give us estimates, but intuitively they were not trustworthy nor communicative & we strongly sense the outcome could of been disastrous had we not relied on our senses. Tired of searching we suddenly remembered that our neighbor had his pool re-done several years back and asked him about the pool contractor he had hired. That neighbor referred us to Tim & April, owners of The Pool Guys. We had pool electrical issues that needed to be taken care of first as a priority to prevent electrocution. At the time when we called the Pool Guys in June of 2024, they had a waiting list 7 months long. We were asked to send pictures of our electrical to them. Our electrical was completely eroded, rusty, with wiring sticking out from the electrical box, lighting, and pool pump. We also had leaks in our pool, the plaster was cracked and the plumbing was brittle and needed to be re-placed. April was kind enough to put us on schedule for their pool electrician to repair the electrical 1 month later. This is when we met her husband Tim. He was the one who repaired this emergency. His work ethic and his quality of electrical work was exceptional! Not to mention the best personality & very likeable guy ever... We asked him if he could place us on his waitlist for a complete pool remodel. Our pool was 50 years old and needed a complete overhaul. Our scheduled pool remodel was set for May 2025. It could of been scheduled just a bit earlier, but we requested the remodel closer to the summer. Prior to the remodel we were able to communicate with April for several months. She always, always answered every question we needed answered. Never once did she ever fail us on questions we needed answered and we learned so much from her. There are no hidden price gimmicks in her estimates. April is very detailed with a complete breakdown of cost. Her incredible communication skills is extraordinary and unmatched by many other pool contractors. She educated us on everything we needed to learn about pools and on the selection of pool materials. When we signed the contract we were completely at peace and not once did we think to cancel within the 3 days your allowed to. When our other neighbors unnecessarily called and reported us to the city with a lie that we were having work done without a permit, the city inspector came out and penalized us with a $640.00 penalty. Not only is April the best at what she does, she fought on our behalf to get that penalty taken off. She is one tuff gal. With full confidence, if there is anyone looking for a good reputable and trustworthy pool contractor we highly recommend the Pool Guys, Tim and April, to you.
Had a wonderful experience with the Pool Guys. We had an older pool that needed a bit of help updating and running more efficiently. Called and got an appointment for an estimate right away. Everything was explained to us as to what could be done and an estimate was provided quickly. April was great at helping keep the work flowing, helping with ideas and tile/plaster recommendations. Workers were kind to our property and cleaned up. The pool was remodeled and upgraded within a few weeks, looks new and runs more efficiently now. Very happy with the Pool Guys and would recommend them to anyone. Great experience!
Tim and April did such a wonderful job on my pool remodel. They were so helpful with a new design, picking out new tiles, etc to make the pool look its best. They completed the job on time according to their planned timeline. Tim is very responsive when we have needed some help with the spa system. We love our new pool! I would highly recommend The Pool Guys!!
This review pertains to a recent remodeling project I undertook in my backyard two years ago. The project encompassed the demolition of the entire concrete back patio deck, patio cover, and the refinishing of the pool. I was referred to Pool Guys Remodeling and Repairs by Joel and Sons. April and Tim, the owners, visited my residence to assess the pool’s condition, provide consultations and recommendations, and offer a reasonable and equitable price estimate. They demolished the existing plaster, installed new coping, pool tiles, a new pool light, a pool filter, and undertook some minor electrical work. Throughout the process, they demonstrated exceptional courtesy, helpfulness, knowledge, and patience with my inquiries. They also provided me with samples of plaster colors, coping, tiles, and other materials. The crew executed the project flawlessly, resulting in a beautiful and functional newly remodeled pool that I and my family will enjoy for many years to come. I highly recommend Pool Guys Remodeling and Repairs for your next pool remodeling project.
For the reader that is looking for quality small repairs, small upgrades, or replacement of pool equipment, they will make sure you are presented with the best upgrades and a written cost proposal within your budget. The results will be your pool working as good or better than when new. Any future problems, interfacing with the dealers’ warranties regarding any of the replacement equipment replaced will be addressed in a timely manner. They will be your advocate. For the reader that is planning a major remodel or minor makeover; and wants more detail about the company read on. I think you will be challenged to find competitive bidders who will be able to match what these people can do. Price is a consideration but so is the value for your dollars spent, both short and long term. We told them when envisioning our pool to always think about functionality, safety, energy efficiency, low maintenance and Hi-Tech features. They delivered. We planned to remodel our pool in 2020 but held off due to pandemic. When we decided to move forward in late 2021 EVERY local pool remodel company was booked out for "at least a year" and most were too busy to even return calls. April told us upfront to call back in 6 months if still interested. She put us on a wait list. We searched Yelp and Google and found excellent reviews, so we decided to hold off making a final decision until they submitted a bid. Even though we had not committed or even had them come to the house, April took the time to respond to our questions knowing she wasn't able to meet with us for some time. Fast forward 6 months when "The Pool Guys" called saying there was an opening if we didn't mind our pool being torn up in mid 2022. GREAT LET’S MOVE ON IT!!! We agreed and soon after Tim and April came out to assess and quote our project. Right away, they understood exactly what we were looking for and would expect from our remodel. It was a big job to add a Baja shelf (replacing a jacuzzi we never used), extend our shallow end, reconfigure the existing pool entry, re-tile, replace coping, pebble tech the pool surface, upgrade the electrical and plumbing, install remote connectivity, add a service ledge, a pool wide safety ledge, automatic pool water leveler, refurbish our pool slide, and install new equipment (pool 30 yrs. old). All the changes reduced the pool volume from 27,000 to 17,000 gallons without reducing the usable surface and pool areas!Tim and April’s design and engineering abilities are remarkable. If you are thinking of a pool designer, I believe you can save some money by doing a little research on your own and working with Tim and April to design a first-class pool to your liking. April knows the city codes. She will be your advocate regarding licenses and working with the city inspectors. This is the behind the scenes work that some contractors don’t bother doing. One inspector came into our backyard when they were not around to check on the progress and said while inspecting some additional rebar that was added for reinforcement, “we never have a problem with The Pool Guys”. That was reassuring to hear. Our project started a couple months into 2022 and was completed by end of May 2022. Keep in mind there was considerable planning prior to start date. Therefore, once the project started there was no glitches to slow down the progress. Almost every day thereafter members of Tim and April's construction teams were onsite working non-stop to finish our project in 8-10 weeks! There were periodic breaks to allow concrete to cure and some additional items that required downtime, but this was part of the usual and required downtime for this construction. There was NOT downtime working multiple jobs that occurs with some contractors.April provided what can only be described as daily "concierge-level service" by calling or texting to check in and sending an end of day email to explain what to expect the next day along with the names of their team members who will be on the property.
