I interviewed 10 pool companies. Romance Pools was the only one that understood the assignment.

They didn’t just remodel our pool. They took a tired, basic 10x30 rectangle and turned it into a backyard retreat that looks like it was always meant to be part of our Spanish Revival home.

Having managed several pool projects, I know quality when I see it, and we have high expectations.

We purchased an older home with a plain pool and wanted to transform it into a Spanish Revival-style pool that felt original to the house.

This is much harder to find than you would think.

Our project scope of work included modernizing the existing shell, adding LED pool lights, a raised deck with waterfalls into the pool, a hot tub, custom tile, floating steps, and all-new equipment. We needed a team that could handle the technical side, but also understand the design side. I did not want a cookie-cutter pool. I did not want the standard Caribbean blue finish, generic NPT glass tile, or a hot tub that looked like it had been dropped into the yard as an afterthought. Dani, the designer, understood we wanted a timeless, elevated pool that respected our home’s style. Her design and material choices were thoughtful and made the pool look beautiful, custom, and timeless without being trendy.

Of course, design is only half the story. Construction is where many projects fall apart, and we watched closely. The quality showed in every step. The tile and paver work was precise. They hand-dug everything and did not try to bring in big equipment. The details were thoughtful. There were no shortcuts.

The full construction side of the project took about 12 weeks from start to finish, including a few minor delays due to unexpected rain and a brief pause while we waited for specialty materials to arrive. Even with these surprises, the team kept us updated and on track.

Now, our old basic rectangle is completely transformed. It feels like a resort, but not in a cold or generic way. It feels personal. It feels connected to the house. It looks like it was born with the property, not added to it later.

If there were any area that could be improved, it would be communication. Early communication was a little spotty. Once the Romance Pools team set up a shared group chat for the project, everything changed. We had daily updates, real visibility, and no more wondering what was happening. If you are more hands-off, you may not even notice this, but we like to know everything that is going on, and the group chat made a huge difference.

The part that really sealed the experience for me came after the project was done.

Romance Pools did not disappear.

They checked back in, answered follow-up questions promptly, and walked us through operating the equipment. Even after the project was complete, Romance Pools let us know they offer ongoing support and maintenance services if we ever need them, which gave us real peace of mind about long-term care.

My pool was originally a disaster — damp, cracks at the bottom, electrical hazards, and none of the lights worked. Romance Pools completely transformed it. They redesigned everything from scratch and customized it to our needs. Daniela handled the design, and her work speaks for itself. She listens, she’s attentive, and she creates custom designs — not generic templates. She also saved us a huge amount of time with the HOA. She managed to get approval in a very short period, something 20 other contractors couldn’t accomplish.

They also never push you to spend money unnecessarily. They focus on what you actually need.

Highly recommend Romance Pools. They turned a hazardous, outdated pool into a resort-level space my family enjoys every day.
