Customer feedback is mixed. Positive reviews frequently mention solving lingering pool issues, helpful troubleshooting, and the owner stepping in when schedules are tight. Critical reviews cite communication problems around appointments, perceived rush or limited on-site time, and frustration with coordination through third parties such as home warranty providers. Pricing clarity and follow-through are recurring themes, with experiences varying by job.
This company was sent by our home warranty company…from the St. Louis area to repair equipment in the Kansas City area…the technician spent 5 minutes here on his way to a job in Topeka…said he was recommending cash in lieu of repair or replacement…and then provided feedback to the home warranty company that prohibits us from getting any repairs or compensation. He was rude, of no help, and in a big hurry…to get on to his next job and back to Kansas City to eat at a specific restaurant.Yelp reviews say “… there are multiple older and detailed reviews from 2011–2021 regarding poor experiences with "Scott," including unprofessional behavior, high pressure to buy equipment, overcharges, and poor communication, particularly through home warranty providers.”The home warranty company needs to find another service provider for the Kansas City area. I will never do business with this company.
Called Advanced Pool and spa, shared with the office lady to set an appt to open my pool. Also stated needed information on a new pool cover and possible maintenance agreement for the summer. I am a New pool owner). She took credit card and set date, stating they would call several days before week of appt so that I could get pool cover off and fill the pool as directed to above the skimmer. Scott then called before appt and discussed they would measure cover, quote it, and discussed The cost of the maintenance agreement. I said let me think about it but measure the pool cover and we can discuss the maintenance when you arrive. I also shared with Scott that I was going to look at one other company because I am not knowledgeable about pools and wanted to make sure I was getting a competitive bid. Appointment a time arrived and I received no calls. I called Advanced Pool And and Scott answered, stating that the lady just did not get it, and then at the end of the day they had to let her go. I said well I gave my credit card and the appointment was scheduled and Scott told me they had taken me off the schedule and thought I was going in a new direction. I said no we had an appointment and as I discussed with you on the phone Scott the exact situation I was planning for. So Scott called me back apologize, and The stated he would reduce the pool opening price, come out and measure it for the cover, and talk about the maintenance. The appointment was between 730 and 8:30 AM the next day. Scott did not show up. His team came out of two people and opened the pool. They arrived at 9:45 AM on a Thursday in which I work. But was at home but had a conference call at 10 AM. So I went out as they were opening the pool and started asking questions and I was interrupted consistently by one of the Pool people saying, you have to ask Scott. They were very short and quick. When they left, the waterfall was running solidly. Within an hour, it started to trickle only. So I sent a text to Scott with that information and also asked if they had put in shock treatment. I also shared with Scott that when they were priming the pump, the one worker was saying that’s enough, the other worker was saying there’s still air in the hose. The one worker kept trying to rush the other gentleman to get done. So I also contacted Scott about the pump, not having any water in the flow which it usually does. When Scott did get back with me, his statement was, we do not do business with people who try to get competition. They do not work like that Scott then instructed me to flush the system, which should have been done already on the opening the day before, and as I’m a new Pool owner and was not there because they were late to the appointment, I did not see how you conduct that if I flush the pump and supposedly the waterfall would start. Work that I thought they should have all done. Thanks Scott told me he’s not coming back out here, but I need to go to another pool company, because again, I was going to get a competitive bid which he knew I was doing from the get-go. Kind of like a baiting switch. So now I have to get another company to come out to make sure the pool is proper, which it is not because the waterfall is not working and I sent pictures to Scott. I then shared with Scott that I was going to dispute the payment, that he wasn’t gonna give me a quote because I was gonna get a competitive bed, and Scott’s last words were, I knew you were going to dispute this. So then I asked him why he thought I would dispute it? And that is how the conversation ended. It was an unfortunate experience,
We've had a pool at our home in St. Louis for over five years, and in that time we went through four or five different pool companies. Every single one did the bare minimum — checking boxes without ever really solving the underlying problems. What was supposed to be an amazing backyard feature honestly became a source of stress. Every season it was the same dread: "Time to open the pool… what's going to go wrong this time?"Then we found Advanced Pool & Spa, and Scott completely transformed our experience in one summer. Where other companies overlooked issues, Scott and his team dug deeper. They identified a leak that no other pool service company in the St. Louis area could find. That alone was a game-changer, but they didn't stop there. They replaced our pool heater, installed a new pool cover, and handled a long list of repairs and maintenance work that had been neglected for years. The difference is night and day. Scott genuinely cares about doing the job right — not just collecting a service fee and moving on. His attention to detail and willingness to troubleshoot beyond the obvious is something we never experienced with any previous company. We now trust Advanced Pool & Spa exclusively for our pool opening, pool closing, equipment repairs, and they'll be handling our weekly pool cleaning and chemical balancing going forward. If you're in the St. Louis, MO area and need reliable, thorough pool service and spa maintenance, do yourself a favor and call Scott. You won't go back to anyone else.
We have a unique pool setup and recently ran into an issue that required expert support. I contacted several pool companies, spent hours on the phone with tech support, and even had an electrician come out, who unfortunately made no effort to troubleshoot or assist us.That's when Advanced Pool & Spa was recommended to us. Despite a busy schedule, Scott, the owner, personally came out the very next day and made time for us. Not only did he help resolve the issue, but he also took the time to walk us through everything and communicated clearly throughout the entire process. His professionalism and dedication were truly appreciated.5 stars and I would 100% refer to friends and family.
S in APS does not mean Service. . Scott is an excellent Salesman. Convinced me to buy his chlorine tablets at $100+; then to pay $225 for "upgrade" to Pentair 320 offline chlorinator to solve algae issues. Crew took working Hayward chlorinator and next morning Scott refused to return and claimed they threw away? Lots of catch words like "we need to..." to imply he is investing in your pool. As soon as he hooks you(charges your credit card), it is bait and switch. No call, no show for past 2 weeks to clean pool. 2 weeks ago Friday, excuse was "maintenance man birthday" and Scott only man in the field. Last Friday office said "Scott is only one in the field" and changed his route and didn't know where he was at? Per last Friday Google posting from Jim Walsh, this is real reason Scott dropped all pool cleaning (far more profit margin with equipment sale and install):"Scott pump replacement and installation with Brian"Sound like sour grapes? Look at attached pictures of pool on Friday 2 weeks AFTER selling me his chlorine tablets and 3 days AFTER charged $225 for Pentair 320 "upgrade" ($64.99 Amazon) and supposedly cleaning pool.
