Jay Wilkinson on GPI Pools - Florida

We hired IPC Pools in large part due to Google reviews. We're not sure if the business has changed recently, some of the reviews are inauthentic, or it's some other factor, but our experience was vastly different from many others here (and largely the same as the review from matteo gangale). In order to warn others going forward, we felt it was best to write this review and lay out some of the issues we faced.

Permit Application: After taking a 30% deposit from us on 5/30/25, they didn't apply for a permit until 8/20/2025. That's a total of 82 days to apply for the permit, well in excess of the 30 days Florida law allows (Florida Statute 489.126). 9 of those days they were waiting for us to get an updated site survey, the remainder were waiting on IPC. After they finally applied for the permit, the initial review failed on 9/10/2025. There was zero communication about any of this, and we had to ask them again what was happening. The permit was finally approved on 10/16/2025 and cost an additional $840 despite being entirely an IPC issue.

Communication: Throughout the entire permitting ordeal, and continuing on to the project, the level of communication was terrible. Most of our emails and texts asking for status updates were either ignored or quickly passed over with vague details. The "schedule" for the project was straight vibes – there was no planning at all, and figuring out when someone would be showing up to our house was pulling teeth on a daily basis.

The Sales Pitch: In order to get your deposit, they'll tell you whatever you need to hear. When we expressed concern about having enough room for the excavating equipment (due to the AC compressor being in the way a bit), we were told verbally and through email that it wouldn't be an issue and they could "just take off the AC unit for one day, while we are excavating". When construction commenced (and they had our money in hand), it was a different story and we suddenly had to pay $1100 to rent a smaller excavator.

Payment Schedule: You might not realize it when you get your final quote, but the payment schedule requires you to pay up fully when the project is about half done. We made our final payment when plumbing was still exposed, no backfill had been done, and no concrete/tiles had been installed. This is a big deal because...

The "Estimating Error": After reviewing several iterations of approved engineered drawings, seeing the job site several times, pouring the concrete pad, and laying a single row of tiles, IPC suddenly discovered an error in their initial estimate. They then refused to complete the work specified on the approved drawings unless we gave them an additional $1300 (the original demand over the phone was $3500 before some negotiation). Before their "generous" offer of completing the agreed scope if we paid up, they threatened to cut the extra concrete they had already poured.

Overall Costs: IPC will provide you with a quote that's very compelling. However, it won't come close to representing the actual cost of the project, and due to the aforementioned communication issues, they make no effort to walk you through any of it ahead of time. Overall, we needed to spend about $7500 on top of the original estimate.

Inspections: When the construction was complete, IPC abandoned the project with final inspections still pending. Disappeared without a trace and no notice. We still need to complete final inspections but they let the permit expire and we've never heard back from them.

In summary, we highly suggest you look elsewhere for your pool project. At best they're incompetent, at worst....well you can come to your own conclusion from the above.

I've been looking for a pool since July 2023. I was looking for a company that is transparent, professional and motivated to build my pool. Now, I'm a disabled Veteran and the pool will help with my theropy. Marcelo is the person I want to do business with. He calls me and keeps me abreast of every step. I would definitely recommend GPI Pools to all my family and friends. Thank you Marcelo. I'll post photos when the pool is ready!!

We’re very happy with how the pool turned out. A pool installation is a process, and there were a few things that came up along the way, but Pablo and his team handled everything professionally and made sure it was done right.
What I appreciated most is that it felt like working with people who genuinely care about the final result. The pool looks great, and we’re excited to enjoy it. Thank you to Pablo and the team!

The industry term I quickly learned:
"When they get WET, they Forget"

Although we are overly pleased with our beautiful oasis, it's tuff to forget the stress and agony it caused. Im simply writing this review to inform future buyers of what to expect, as no one explains the process or is truthful of the steps either. There's a lot you figure out as you go.

1st off let me explain, in my line of business communication is of the upmost importance. Thankfully I also have a background in construction and project management. Unlike most I had a vision and an idea of what to expect. Sort of…

I cant imagine going into this as a homeowner and not having any idea of construction what so ever. Thankfully I had budget and had accounted for all the unforseen per say.

Have someone look over the contract before you sign. That I have to say was our 1st mistake. The payment schedules most importantly.

2nd look over your plans and permit submittal, question everything and know you'll have to insure your home/Property has adequate electricity to handle the loads. (Luckily for us we did)

3rd know your property will get destroyed landscaping, gardening, sprinklers, even sidewalks and walkways too. Maybe a gutter or two, and yup fence post too. The heavy equipment operators careless to say the least. Even with a “job site supervisor” on site ???????. although they're licensed contractors, expect day laborers on your property with little to no supervision.

4th. The salesman pushing to draw payments ahead of contracted agreement schedule. Then god forbid you threaten to withhold a payment the tables get turned and well we won't send so and so to finish xyz or deliver your pavers etc. Make sure before you sign the contract that you hold payments to the very end. Protect Yourself!

5th theres isn't any communication throughout the process whatsoever. No "Mr tomorrow xyz will be done, or so and so will be by to do xyz, or sir the following inspections have been requested on the following days"..
don't expect any communication and if you do get something it's sort of an inconvenience or bothersome reply.

6. Thankfully my schedule was flexible durring the process and I was able to be around and manage what I would forsee needed to get done.

7. No one tells you untill very late in the process BTW your landscaping has to be done 100% before your final inspections can be called for. Again Luckily I have friends that are GC's and had already advised me. I also went to city hall a few times and spoke to the inspector's to Guage what was going to be needed. So plan plan plan as much as you can.

8. I managed my own sprinkler contractor, landscaper, sod delivery install, repairs to house & fence as needed, touch up paint as needed. Thank God I had planned for these extras. Imagine if you hadn't.

9. Dont get me wrong, We are thrilled with the end result, I spent a lot of extra time and money turning our back yard into our oasis for our family to enjoy with family & friends.
But know it took every ounce of me, fot it to it happen truly.

10. At the end the owner of the company got involved. Brought over some gifts, and gave us some extras I had requested in the beginning at No Cost.

We've since then have recommended the manufacturer to three other families we know. With cautioned warning of what to expect.
Definitely expect to be involved the entire process don't expect a turn key project.

Ultimately We are very happy with the fiberglass pool itself & the pavers. We love the feel and finish of it and the simplicity of maintaining it.

The pavers are super amazing they never get hot even in 94° south Florida sunshine. Its only been a few months so well see how things holdup 6 months, a year, and a few years from now.

Hope this helps-
-there's another truthful review below from another reviewer I just read. Very very similar experience.

When we embarked on the journey to enhance our backyard we did it with a pool in mind. We had high hopes and expectations. Thankfully, our experience surpassed every one of them, leaving us with a stunning pool that is quickly becoming the heart of our outdoor space and most importantly our 6 years old daughter. It was a very long process and I can’t thanked Pablo, Luis and everyone who worked on this project enough.
