We have been dealing with the Galderisi family and Swim King for decades. They have always been helpful, friendly, and kind. They will always do their best to help solve any problems that arise from pool ownership and take the time to listen and give advice and options to help you make the best decision for you. Thank Gary and your crew for making your customers feel like friends.
I can't say enough great things about SwimKing. Their staff is top notch, the owners always stop to say hi and they remember you by name. We bought our pool from them 7 years ago and continue to work with them every year for upgrades, chemicals etc. always helpful, they exceed the mark for great cust service. They stand behind everything they sell and treat you like your family. Support local business it's the only way to go!! ????
There is a super caring and knowledgable team at Swim King! I have an ancient Johnny Weissmuller pool and I’ve always been advised that although it’s vintage it’s when they were made well! I keep at it because it brings so much pleasure year after year! I always notice that Gary knows everyone’s name. I admire that. I am not the person they installed a pool for but it doesn’t matter. They help and value all of their customers.
We recently had our pool opened by Swim King of Ulster in Kingston, NY, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. For years, we've been customers of Swim King for water testing, pool chemicals, hot tub supplies, pool floats, and other accessories. When it came time to open our pool this season, we decided to give them a shot after hearing positive things from neighbors who use their services. Our previous pool company charged around $450 to open the pool, remove the cover, clean the pool, set up the filtration system, backwash, add DE, and make sure everything was running properly before leaving. We assumed Swim King offered a similar service. We quickly learned that wasn't the case. The $450 charge was essentially just to remove the cover and turn the equipment on. Anything beyond that—vacuuming leaves, adding DE, cleaning the pool, or ensuring the system is operating correctly—apparently requires a separate maintenance contract. Paying $450 just to unlatch a cover and flip a switch felt excessive and was never clearly explained upfront. Then things got worse. The technician, Tyler, informed us he didn't have the proper tools on his truck and proceeded to cut out a section of our pool plumbing, including our backwash sight glass. We were never consulted, never gave permission, and were simply told, "You'll see it on the bill." As pool owners, it's hard to understand how a professional pool service company arrives at a job without the tools necessary to work on standard 1½-inch and 2-inch pool plumbing.Concerned, we contacted Swim King and spoke with Dennis, a manager, who came out to inspect the situation. To his credit, Dennis acknowledged that the plumbing should not have been cut and assured us we would not be charged for it.However, while he was there, my wife asked why one of our slide return function was not working properly even after multiple backwashes. Instead of thoroughly inspecting the system or ensuring everything was operating correctly after his technician had altered our plumbing, the response was simply, "Keep backwashing it."At that point, we expected someone to verify that everything was functioning properly before leaving. Instead, we were left troubleshooting issues ourselves after paying a premium price for an opening service.Based on our experience, Swim King may be a fine retail store for chemicals and supplies, but our pool opening experience was frustrating, overpriced, and poorly executed. We expected professional service and attention to detail. Instead, we got an expensive cover removal, unauthorized plumbing work, and unresolved equipment concerns.Unfortunately, we will not be using Swim King for pool service again and called another company to come fix both issues.Updating my review because it somehow got worse. The technician cut my existing 2" plumbing down to 1.5" because he didn't have the proper tools on the truck, without asking permission first. Then when our slide wouldn't work, we were repeatedly told to add DE and keep backwashing the filter.Turns out the problem wasn't the filter at all. There were three separate return/feed lines hidden behind the arborvitaes that neither the technician nor the owner identified. I adjusted the valves myself, and the slide worked immediately. So let me get this straight: you cut my plumbing, had me chasing a filter issue that didn't exist, and somehow missed three obvious return lines while troubleshooting. Do these guys actually know what they're doing?
These guys are great. They come when you need them as well as when you call as a new pool owner and they are friendly and answer all your questions. The service and instalation was so easy.
