Update March 2026:We have had ongoing issues with our pool build from the very beginning, and unfortunately, the experience has been consistently frustrating. Throughout the process, we have documented concerns in writing and shared them with multiple team members, including the owner, John. We have also met with him several times in person to address these problems.After posting a Google review with photos, one issue was finally addressed—but only after significant effort on our part. We have continued to request help with a major, unresolved problem: stones repeatedly falling off and out of our cabana structure. This is not a new issue. It was identified during the original build in 2022, making it clear that the company has long been aware of the problem, yet it remains unresolved.We are now in the position of repeatedly asking—essentially begging—for someone to come out and properly fix something that should have been handled long ago. For the price we paid, we expected a high-quality product and responsive customer service. Unfortunately, we have received neither.At this point, the lack of accountability and follow-through is extremely disappointing. We cannot recommend this company based on our experience.
We were very pleased with the plaster, tile, and stone work on our pool. John, the owner, closely managed the project start to finish, and was extremely responsive to any questions or issues. The quality of the work was excellent, and the pricing was consistent with the two other bids we received. I strongly recommend them for pool work in the McKinney area.
This is the second time we have used Southernwind to build a pool and we had a wonderful experience again! Southernwind focuses on building less pools than many of the pool builders in DFW, but each one of their pools is custom and high quality. This was one of our requirements for a builder. We worked with Clay on design and David was our project manager. Clay provided the unique design we were looking for to make our backyard stand out. Once the project was handed over to David he built the whole thing in 8 weeks from dig to plaster! One thing that really stands out to me is how well they communicate throughout each stage of the project. Communication was one of my main requirements and they exceeded my expectations. Overall I would highly recommend Southernwind for any pool project.

Our experience with Southernwind Pools, and especially Clay Wager, has been nothing short of exceptional. We recently completed a major backyard renovation in Dallas with a large pool, outdoor living area, and outdoor kitchen. Southernwind managed the project with the expertise you’d expect from a large, experienced company, but with the relationships you’d expect from a small, family-owned business. Our project designer, Clay Wager, did much more than design our project. He worked with us to create what we wanted and needed as a family. As first-time pool owners, he both listened and provided expert advice. Additionally, he was present for us throughout the entire project. When we noticed a chip in a tile, he was the one we called and quickly had it fixed under the outstanding warranty Southerwind provides. Any large construction project is going to have its glitches along the way, but I’m glad we had Clay to move the process along. Perhaps most importantly, we believe the project is now perfect. After using it for a summer, it was exactly what we wanted, and all our guests have been highly impressed with it. The project took a while to complete, but Southernwind completed our backyard within budget and with minimal inconvenience to our family. I would highly recommend Southernwind Pools to anyone looking to renovate their backyard.
