EDIT: since the week I posted this we have received personal communication back from Mr. Smith, who was appropriately apologetic. We've also been assigned a new project manager who seems committed to daily updates and has initiated progress on several of our outstanding items. I will update the stars and body of this review over the next few weeks pending the resolution of the project.

I see a lot of good reviews here, but we are in the middle of a project with Jim Hinson pools and it has been a nightmare that I feel I need to share. We signed and put a deposit on our pool in March 2025 and were told it would be done in July. The pool shell wasn’t even placed until August. Sure, delays happen, but here we are in January 2026 and with a pool that is hemorrhaging water underground, several failed inspections, and a nonfunctional heater. These hiccups may be unavoidable in some circumstances. But the communication and coordination we’ve experienced from the team has been extremely poor and has only exacerbated these issues. They brushed off our concerns of a leak for weeks and now we have water seeping out from the ground in several places in our backyard and a water level that falls inches each day. There has been absolutely no coordination of different jobs effectively, so we are constantly waiting on one thing to be done before starting another. We have continually failed city inspections. Several aspects of the final product were installed without discussing the ramifications with us, like the fact that we chose an automatic cover and a spillover but weren’t told until after installation of both of those things that the need to continually run the spillover means that we can never close automatic cover all the way. They gave us a day’s notice that they were taking two plus weeks off for the winter holidays and we’d be left without a contact, in charge of expensive pool equipment in freezing temperatures with no training on how to keep it running. Our PM went on maternity leave and we got passed off to someone else in a brief text with a day’s notice, and he was not up to speed on our project. Given our serious leak concerns at this point, I’ve now reached out to their boss Will Smith for a plan of action and have yet to receive a response. It sounds like it might be possible to have a good experience with this company based on other reviews, but it has caused us incredible stress and frustration and we are still nowhere near resolution. The level of service has been unacceptable for any caliber of project, and certainly not something as expensive and invasive as an in ground pool. I would never recommend Jim Hinson to anybody at this point and truly hope they can come through and turn this disaster around.
