I would strongly warn anyone considering Don Johnson’s Pool and Spa to think twice before doing business with them.I was charged $2,333 for something I never authorized. That alone is unacceptable—but it gets worse. The original hot tub I purchased cost less than that, so the idea that I would approve an additional charge at that level is completely unrealistic. When I disputed the charge, they claimed my ex-husband approved it. That is simply not believable. During our entire marriage, he would never approve a charge like that without discussion—and more importantly, there is zero documentation to support their claim. No signed authorization. No written agreement. No proof.Instead of taking responsibility, they escalated the situation to small claims court and doubled down on a story that doesn’t add up. Being taken to court over a charge I never approved is beyond frustrating—it’s unacceptable business practice. This experience showed a complete lack of transparency, accountability, and basic professionalism. I would not trust this company with billing, authorizations, or follow-through. If you do work with them, protect yourself: get everything in writing, question every charge, and don’t assume anything is being handled honestly.
The technicinas are terible and so is the service department. We asked them to come hook up our pool sweeper motor. A very easy thing to do. According to the service manager Shawn, the tecnician could not make the connection electrically in the junction box. 3 wire nuts in a 2-1/2 by 4' box, easly done and code compliant. They claim the breaker is only showing 60 volts (110v normal) and not working, yet it worked before he arrived and after? Than they claim safety issues shutting our pool heater down with no explinatiion why or what the safety hazards are. Puts us out of business. The technician (ha, ha)! didn't even tell our front desk what they had done and just left, the service manager could only say "I don't know, that's what the technician said" Total scam and looking for more money to come back and make unrequired repairs, and unnecessary repairs. Customer beware!!!
I've been a customer of Don Johnson's for many years but the last few days have really exemplified why I love working with them. We had a self inflicted, catastrophic pool failure - me trying to fix something - and when I explained to Woody on Saturday what the issue was he told me not to worry as his team would figure it out sometime this week. Woody's head of service, Kevin, called me, told me what was going to happen and when on Monday morning. Leo showed up two days earlier than I thought and he was literally a magician. Problem solved. No muss, no fuss. Just a group of guys that are really good at their jobs.I cannot say enough positive things about Woody and his team.
How is this company still in business? Nothing but lies and empty promises, with the addition of a lovely new ecosystem. What’s better than a cesspool full of tadpoles and algae? With Memorial Day creeping up, you’d think a business would express more urgency. Very unprofessional, neglecting the time and energy of the customer, as they have yet to answer any of the voicemails that were left. You’re better off just hiring a local kid in the neighborhood.
They come weekly to ‘clean’ the pool, yet it’s ranges from Horrible service to NO service. I’ve lost count of the amount of times these guys have let our pool become filled with algae and unusable. They come weekly, yet the pool is yet again unusable this week. When the usual guy got injured, earlier this year, the new technician they sent was not told where the key to get into the pool was - and so they simply *didn’t service the pool for *three weeks, leading to another huge algae bloom! Why wasn’t there basic communication, there? Meanwhile, my landlord was still being charged for weekly visits by automatic payments. Do not waste your money. Find someone who actually offers the service you’re paying for.
