When a tree smashed the roof of my home during an ice storm on Christmas Eve I was at a true loss for what to do. Damage was massive and there was a big hole in our roof. We placed a tarp to keep snow out, and then I started to call various local companies. Either they were not interested in our job or they failed to call back or show up as promised. My next call was to Clifton Construction and I immediately could sense the difference, that I finally had a professional on the phone who could help me. I explained our situation and Christian was able to come to my home in an hour (!!!) to introduce himself and access the situation. Wow already!
This meeting changed everything. I literally do not believe I could have had as positive as result with any other builder. Christian was upbeat, knowledgeable, and supportive. He explained how we really needed more information on how much damage was done in order to make the repairs complete, and in turn that was what needed to be presented to our insurance. He sent a member of his team to do a thorough inspection, including photos taken by drone of the roof damage. This information was critical in eventually being compensated by insurance, allowing work to start. Dealing with insurance took time but we used that time to plan the construction, with the goal to start as soon as possible. Work started, first removing the roof of half of my home and then rebuilding it all. Christian chose Charlie as our builder and I appreciated his ideas on how to make the space better than before, and we were able to integrate the best of all the ideas to make an incredible transformation. Christian was incredible in his patience with me in all of my ideas and concerns. If I laid the text thread we had during the project down on paper it would wrap the world in length because he was always here for me. Our budget was tight but I wound up with a beautiful room. Charlie had a lot of ideas and most were super helpful, and the ideas I didn’t like as much he respected as well, such as keeping heating on walls not the floor. I definitely had strong feeling about every single detail and the two men deserve big thanks for keeping me assured along the way.
Work schedule was consistent with what I was told, and any changes were communicated in plenty of time. We always had an end of week wrap up and plan for the next work in place. This was a big job, and some supplies were delayed throwing us off but work would work around/resume asap. We had an estimated timeline and adhered to it well. Charlie and his team cleared, reframed, and rebuilt top to bottom. They did their best to not make a mess as they had to access the space by entering our kitchen. Work was done well and the couple of small things that needed fixing after the project were promptly corrected. They make it clear that their work is covered and that has been my experience. Charlie was thoughtful enough to swap a light for one we tried in the room and didn’t fit, he hung in my sons room just to be extra helpful. Those details are appreciated. The project stayed on budget as I didn’t make choices costing more, and they didn’t have unexpected expense in the work.
This was a really bad situation which ultimately came out for the better. My quality of life has changed due to a bigger and brighter space. We will have Charlie come back to do our kitchen when it’s within our budget.
Christian, Charlie, and the many others who were part of his rebuild all helped me so very much. You hear so many times these matters don’t turn out well but I wish I could give them 100 stars if I could! Christian - BEST project manager ever !
