I can’t say enough about the great job the Ann Arbor Remodeling team did for us. Our project included the kitchen, half bath, hall and foyer. New flooring and fresh paint throughout. Kitchen got a new countertop, sink, and the pantry converted from normal shelving to roll-out shelves. Replacement of some trim which had seen more than the usual amount of wear and tear from us. A new vanity in the half bath. Five new lighting fixtures.
From the start, AAR was polished and professional. They have a project workflow that structures the up front communication on scope, pricing and schedule. Proposal was detailed and thorough. Pricing was comparable to other “full service” builders, a little higher than the small guys.
Throughout the job, their attention to detail was apparent. For example, their prep for painting was the most thorough I have ever seen. Similarly, the prep of the subfloor was extensive. Communication was good; Mark, the lead carpenter, gave us daily briefings, documented online with a brief report and photos of the finished work. He always showed up on time. Their junior carpenter Andrew was also very professional.
Other areas showed consideration of the full project impacts on us. As an example, dust control was one of their priorities, particularly during the initial phase of demolition. And even at the tail end their standard procedure is to replace the home’s furnace filter!
They finished the job within one day of the original estimate (four weeks). At that point, I followed a practice that is standard in project management – a review/inspection checking every detail. Are the roll out drawers smooth? Does each vanity door work correctly? Any blemishes on countertops or other critical surfaces?
They. For the first time in my life, I found ZERO issues to add to my “punch list”! I couldn’t believe it. We are already talking about our next project!

We highly recommend this company for their professionalism and quality of work they provided from the design process through to the actual construction.
We have just remodeled our basement and it far exceeded our expectations in what we could do with the area. It was already finished but we wanted to give it an updated look and be more functional. Justin came out and listened to our “wants” for the area, which included an egress window as a priority to let some light in, and made additional suggestions to improve the existing ceiling lighting and heating. This all came together in their design and planning process with their various team members involved.
We had a meeting with some of the team including our lead carpenter Mark prior to the start of the project where we both knew what the expectations were on both sides.
The basement was thoroughly sealed off from the rest of the house, and they were impeccably tidy in how the worksite was left each day. Mark was excellent to work with. He paid attention to detail and worked to make sure everything was top notch. Photos and progress reports were posted to a website daily to keep us up to date with the work being done.
Communication was excellent throughout the process.
The project was completed on time and we are extremely happy with the end result.
