Robertson Renovations made our dream a reality, while executing a complex and extensive procedure as seamlessly as possible. In 2020 my wife and I bought a house in Charlottesville Virginia built in 1957 and in need of major renovation. We anticipated moving there for our upcoming retirement as we love the city and it was near our daughter and 3 of our grandchildren. Ironically, it was in that home that we first witnessed her neighbor's house undergoing a full makeover. We made multiple trips over the course of a year, and with each visit had a ringside seat to view the quality of construction and the consistent progress. Impressed with the work, I made a point of noting the company's name and eventually introduced myself to James Robertson at the job site. Realizing that we also needed an architect, I was pleased to learn that they have one in house. As James put it "we do everything from soup to nuts", meaning the entire project could be conducted by one company. On June 10, 2022 we had our first meeting with James and architect Kelly Trout at our house to discuss our needs. We required a total gut job, plus an addition and second story to morph our untouched midcentury 1505 sq ft bungalow into a fully modernized 2650 sq ft farmhouse. This began a 2 year collaboration with Kelly adapting our designs into buildable plans for James and his team of top notch subcontractors, all expertly coordinated by our fabulous foreman Jason Foley. Anyone unfamiliar with this process should buckle up and prepare for long term stress, anxiety, and expense as I've never known a renovation to complete on budget or on time. But honestly our 10% cost increase was primarily due to extras we chose while underway - like moving the driveway, waterproofing the foundation, and adding a deck. After a 24 month transition, on June 12, 2024 we had moved into our like-new home and made our final payment. As we sit on our front porch, we often hear passersby admiring the transformation. The best recommendation I can give is to say that our daughter's house is now undergoing work - by Robertson Renovations! Thank you
