A water line in my bathroom broke, which flooded both floors of my house. The walls and ceiling on main floor had to be taken out. Almost all of my hardwood flooring was removed and needed to be replaced.
I interviewed 4 different companies to get estimate. Jon McCullem with JMC was one of them. At our initial meeting he was on time, he provided information related to his background and showed me his past work. He took measurements, pictures and video. The other contractors I met with did not do that. He provided his estimate on the exact day he told me he would. His communication style was very professional and polite.
He worked well with my insurance company and became my advocate at one point during the remodel. I have allergies and asthma. Unfortunately my insurance company did not want to put me up in a hotel until it was time to install flooring. I expressed my concerns to Jon and he spoke with my adjuster. My adjuster contacted me and put me in an air bnb.
Jon is meticulous. He was at the worksite everyday to check on things. He provided status updates weekly via texts. Some of his crew volunteered to work on holidays and weekends, which I did not expect. I had ZERO issues during the 3 months he worked on my home. When I had requests related to minimizing drywall dust and debris, he accomodated me by ensuring his crew vaccummed up areas at the end of each workday. Anytime I had a question, he would respond same day or the following day. I know very little about construction and asked ALOT of questions. Jon was patient with me and answered all of them with ease.
My home looks even better than it did before! I am very pleased with the results and will buy water sensors so this never happens again.

This is my first time working with a contractor and Im so glad people like Jon exist. He made this whole process super easy and stress free. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND JMC CONTRUCTION. You will be happy you did!

Building a home can be a highly stressful process that involves careful planning, numerous decisions, reaching agreements with your spouse, and taking on significant debt. However, my experience with JCM Construction was quite different; it was remarkably low-stress and genuinely enjoyable.

Jon came highly recommended by someone in the housing industry. When we met him, he was very friendly, humorous, and down-to-earth. He mentioned he has a degree in Project Management and was very straightforward about the process, providing a quick initial estimate of the home’s cost. After we presented our plans, he began working on a detailed estimate to kick off the project. By the end of our initial planning discussion, we were confident that we wanted him to be our contractor for this project.

After working through the calculations, we received the JCM bid for the house. We were pleased with the costs and signed the contract, ready to proceed. Unfortunately, this coincided with the onset of COVID, creating a lot of uncertainty in the market. We told Jon that we preferred to wait and see how things developed before starting, and he was understanding, despite the potential financial impact on him. To plan ahead and support his subcontractors during this uncertain time, he asked if it would be alright to proceed with the excavation work so we could be ready. We agreed that this was a good plan. After a couple of months and deciding to sell our house, we chose to move forward with the construction.

We quickly realized the importance of Jon’s project management skills throughout the process. He assigned us the task of contacting various suppliers and making all necessary choices. The information he provided was incredibly detailed, helping us avoid last-minute rushed decisions. Although it required a lot of work initially, it ultimately prevented poor decisions later on. Additionally, Jon offered his opinion on some of our ideas and showed us other houses to help visualize our choices. This early planning and decision-making allowed subcontractors to place orders based on our decisions, ensuring that our products were available when needed. This was especially beneficial since the COVID shutdowns caused back-orders that impacted the construction of many other homes.

During the construction process, Jon kept us well-informed about the progress and provided additional details when needed for some of our decisions. The monthly cost reports were detailed and easy to understand. Whenever we had concerns or questions, Jon was readily accessible and always willing to meet with us to resolve any issues. He encouraged us to visit the house regularly to see the progress and be involved in the process.

One of the challenges Jon faced was dealing with a difficult neighbor. Instead of confronting him directly, Jon chose to work with the neighbor to prevent any hostility towards me. Jon took on the responsibility and positioned himself as the fall-guy, ensuring the neighbor didn’t harbor any ill will towards me.

JMC Construction also prides itself on quality. Jon would invite us to inspect everything to ensure it met our standards, but only after he had already thoroughly reviewed everything himself. He shared his observations and addressed any concerns we had. Additionally, JMC’s commitment to their product was evident when, a few years later, we encountered an issue. Jon promptly dropped everything and spent a considerable amount of time resolving our situation.

When the project was completed, we stayed well within budget and didn’t face any unexpected expenses, thanks to JCM’s upfront and detailed estimation process. We were extremely pleased with how the house turned out and appreciated the contractor’s handling of any issues that arose. He is extremely knowledgeable about the housing market, project management, and people management. He is very courteous and always willing to work through any issue. We are very happy to recommend JCM Construction and if we ever consider building again, we won’t hesitate to reach out to Jon.

JMC Construction was a Great Contractor to work with building our New Dream Home. Planning and timing of the construction was very smooth and completed on time. Picking and selecting the finishes during construction and working with Jon and his subcontractors was great. Communication before, during and at the completion of our home went the best it could. High quality work and a very high quality built home. I would highly recommended JMC Construction to anyone that is looking to build a new home or purchase any of the homes Jon has built. We bought our home build by JMC Construction in 2019, upon which we had the opportunity to meet Jon McCullem. He was very thorough in showing us every detail of the house, and it was evident that Jon took great pride in his work. He promptly addressed all of our questions. It was his work ethic and commitment that sold us on our purchase. In 2020, we decided to add a patio cover in back of our house, so we naturally contacted Jon. His schedule was busy, but he worked us in and had the project completed in a week! Upon the final inspection, he said to me that he just wanted to make sure we were happy with the result.
