Reviews

What customers say

Customers praise Cream City Construction's communication; one also noted the team's attention to detail. During a bathroom remodel, one customer received daily photo updates; when hidden wood rot appeared, Cream City repaired it at its cost and finished before the customer returned. An under-stairs closet in one customer's 1890s home became a powder room, and the project stayed on or ahead of schedule.

I have done family home projects with Cream City Construction for 20 years and still going. Across moves. Varying sizes and scales of needs. From planning to finished results, always outstanding. Each time making the house our home in next ways and well beyond expectations. Combining Jim’s expert contracting, interior design, and precision on materials with Todd’s patience, exacting architectural design, and skill in uniting function with timelessness, they are the complete set of professionals and true experts for realizing the best potential in living spaces. Their craftsmanship and process affords beautiful settings for family time, making of important memories, and optimizing a family life well-lived. I count them as friends, which might just say it all. Tom Z

I interviewed several companies to do a partial remodel of my kitchen, mainly removing an old island and replacing it with something beautiful and modern. After talking with Jim with Cream City, it was clear they had the best customer service. Jim and his team were very professional with excellent communication and attention to detail. He walked me through the process from start to finish with timelines and what to expect. Jim was always willing to meet on site to discuss the details. He did an excellent job managing all the different trades required throughout the remodel. Cream City works very hard to ensure their customer’s satisfaction. I love my new kitchen with gorgeous woodwork, sleek appliances, and quartz countertops. Would recommend to a friend! I plan to work with them on future projects.

We can't thank Jim and the team at Cream City Construction enough. They were able to turn an under-the-stairs closet in our 1890s home into the most beautiful powder room, and we couldn't be happier. Jim was communicative throughout the process and they stayed right on schedule (and often ahead of schedule!). Would definitely recommend.

We wanted to remodel our bathroom by removing the original tub and creating a walk-in shower. We had several contractors over to get estimates including Cream City. Cream Cities estimate was right in line with the others. The one thing we liked about Cream City was the detailed design we were given. We then decided on Cream City. Another challenge we had was we were leaving to go to AZ for two weeks and wanted to have this project completed while we were gone as this is our only bathroom. Cream City had their crew stop in and look at the project ahead of time and we arranged with entry into our house while we were gone. We got daily updates on progress with pictures including finding that in our 100 year old house we had some wood rot behind the old tile. Cream City remedied this situation at their cost and completed the project before we arrived home. Hats off to the Cream City team and their approach to our project. We are more than satisfied with the results and are now enjoying our walk-in shower. Thanks Jim Grote and team for a job well done. I would highly recommend them for your remodeling projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens before construction starts?

It starts with an in-home walk-through to discuss the project, design solutions and a budget range. After a design retainer, Cream City prepares preliminary sketches, budgetary costs and a project timeline; the fee is credited to construction costs if the construction contract is signed.

How does Cream City Construction handle permits?

It obtains building permits at the start of construction and attends municipal design-review committees when needed.

What does the design-retainer estimate leave out?

The design-retainer agreement's estimated budget excludes appliances, decorative light fixtures and cabinet hardware.

What happens after the punch list is complete?

The project manager meets with the homeowner to discuss the remodeling experience, review maintenance items, explain product functions and go over the warranty.
