While researching local contractors, we came across Square Foot Construction and their experience building carriage houses. After meeting with owner Bryce Goligher to discuss building a carriage house on our acreage for our parents, it was clear from his professionalism, temperament, and depth of industry experience that when the time was right, he would be our builder.

Bryce introduced us to a house designer who took our ideas and transformed them into an excellent plan, and he also encouraged us to engage an interior designer—a decision that proved invaluable. The scope ultimately expanded to include a garage suite, renovations to our main residence, and a refresh of the entire exterior envelope.

Demolition began in the spring of 2025, and the team Bryce assembled was nothing short of superb. The trades and vendors were highly skilled, respectful of our property, and courteous throughout the build. Both site superintendents were excellent problem solvers, and it was a pleasure to watch their “pro tips” and practical experience in action. Any challenges that arose were addressed promptly, and scope changes were managed with care and professionalism. The carriage house was completed at the end of October, with the remainder of the project substantially completed by year’s end.

As someone with over 30 years in the construction industry, I appreciated the opportunity to contribute where appropriate (leaving my "signature" on some of the heavy timber and glulam beams/columns) and found the overall execution and craftsmanship to be of a very high standard.

Our real estate agent referred us to Bryce while we were in the process of selling our townhome and while my wife and I knew we needed a larger space for our growing family, we really didn’t have a solid plan of what our next home would look like. We decided to contact Bryce anyway to get the ball rolling.

From that very first phone call, Bryce exhibited an exceptional level of professionalism that truly set him apart. He patiently walked us through the entire process, taking the time to explain potential costs, what could and couldn’t be done, and addressing any concerns we had. Again, at this point of time, we didn’t know the size of renovation we would be needing, we were also considering to build new. We had so many questions. We were such newbies! We were fortunate enough to purchase a 3000 sq ft home in great condition, albeit needing some updates. We opted for a fairly extensive renovation, which encompassed the main level kitchen, dining area, living room, family room, half bath, and office. Additionally, we repainted the entire interior and installed new flooring on both the first and second floors, including a new staircase and railing. Lastly, we incorporated a kitchen in the basement to transform it into an in-law suite.

From start to finish, throughout the entire project, Bryce maintained excellent communication, ensuring that we were kept in the loop and that our needs were met. His even keel and practical approach were invaluable, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. He was testing out a new project management and accounting software with our project and we thought it worked well and was also helpful. He consistently demonstrated his expertise by walking us through each step, offering practical advice, and always being available to address any questions or concerns.

What also sets Bryce apart is his extensive network of industry professionals who are not only highly skilled but also genuinely good people. This network allowed us to benefit from top-notch services and workmanship, further enhancing our overall experience.
