We recently completed a basement remodel with Aptitude, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. Owner Matt came out personally for the initial project scoping, and he was professional, thorough, and easy to work with. Our project manager, James, kept communication clear and consistent throughout—always responsive and on top of every detail. Jared, our lead contractor, did excellent work and made sure everything was completed with care and high quality.

The whole team was great to work with, and we’re extremely happy with the final result. We would absolutely choose Aptitude again for future projects!

If you want quality work and great communication throughout the project, Aptitude Design & Build is the way to go. The first thing Matt (president of the company) told me when scoping out my house for the project was "We won't be the cheapest option and that's because we make sure to do quality work." And he was 100% right. I love the way my house looks after they added a bedroom and did a few other miscellaneous projects that were too much for me to DIY. All the employees were awesome and very respectful. Their cost estimate (the final price to did change from the cost estimate, there were no additional costs thrown in after work started) was almost the exact same price as the other bid I received from another company so their pricing is also fair. 10/10 recommend Aptitude Design & Build.

Aptitude Design and Build just finished a 3rd project in our home! That says it all, right? Since 2020 they have been welcomed into our home to build us the kitchen/laundry room of my dreams, the kid’s bathroom, and just they finished a luxury primary bathroom/walk in closet. They were the only company that didn’t hesitate when I said walls were coming down, and they were up to the design challenge. The team at Aptitude really wants to give you the remodel you want. They are very responsive to problems and solutions when hiccups/unexpected surprises come up. I highly recommend you give them the opportunity on your next project.

Megan Rosenberg on Aptitude Design & Build

We wanted to add main floor laundry to our house, and decided to do so by adding a wet bar with a small laundry closet to our living room. Aptitude's work exceeded my expectations. They did a beautiful job creating my unique vision of a custom wet bar and laundry closet. The craftsmanship is excellent, and they fully executed my vision with the help of Sara at Henry Kitchen and Baths. They creatively solved the problem of adding plumbing to a room with no prior plumbing on that wall in a cost effective and efficient manner. Its a beautiful space and a joy to do laundry in.
Their employees and subcontractors did excellent work, and I never had any fears of the quality of work performed.

I will note that with the flooding in St. Louis in the summer of 2022, our project was delayed as many businesses experienced issues with their warehouses, including Aptitude. Further, there were a few minor setbacks that pushed our timeline longer than expected. I regularly followed up with Mark, our PM, to ensure that we were all on the same page on a regular basis, and Mark was responsive and answered all questions in a timely manner but concerns weren't always addressed immediately. I can say that I trust Aptitude enough that we have entered into an agreement for them to do additional work in my kitchen.

Editing my review: It is now June 2023, and Aptitude just completed the second project in my home. This one was smaller, taking out my old downdraft range, repairing the vent hole in my siding, installing a new induction range (and related electrical) and adding an island range hood, plus adding a trash pull out in one of my kitchen cabinets. They completed this project in just two days. We are so happy with the work they have done!
