After extensive review of many contractors we chose Ben and BSC for a 14month whole house remodel. After hearing many stories from friends about what to expect on a major remodel we were so pleasantly surprised at how well things went with BSC. We stayed on time, on budget, quality was high, and we were completely in the loop the entire time.

I run enterprise level programs and the quality of management was at the top. BSC uses an app (BuilderTrend) to manage everything which was amazing. All documents, arch diagrams, bills, details and more were available whenever i wanted. Every day they posted a report including pictures of all work done, and if I had any feedback I could provide directly even commenting on the pictures. In addition we held weekly standups with me, the architect, lead carpenter, project manager, and any relevant sub - there was an agenda typed out before and all feedback was captured and put in the app both to ensure all were aligned and also to memorialize.

Ben also takes a personal commitment to ensure both the quality of build and the satisfaction of his clients.

I would highly recommend BSC to anyone who is looking for a very well managed job, on budget, and with quality build.

We were prepared for the inevitable bumps and bruises that go along with a big home renovation project so we came in with that expectation but Blue Sounds communication and management of our project exceeded our expectations. They were very close to the pin on both timeline and cost (which is their reputation and part of the reason we chose them initially), and effectively contributed solutions when we needed to make tradeoffs or unexpected things came up. We hired Blue Sound in 2017 to do a major remodel that entailed tearing down an old bungalow and rebuilding a two-story home on the original foundation. It took about a year. A few things that impressed me: #1 Communication. Ben, Courtenay, J.C. excelled at clear, thoughtful, and honest communication. And super fast email responses. They even won over our neighbors, who despite all the noise and disruption had nothing but positive things to say about the Blue Sound crew. They also worked very well with our architect, MAKE Design. (who, btw, is also awesome) #2 Integrity. When things went wrong (as they do), Blue Sound was never dismissive of our concerns, never tried to shortcut. The window got centered, the gutters got fixed, the cable got rerouted, etc, etc, it all got fixed. #3 Craftsmanship. Over the past several months (pandemic, we're home a lot) I've developed a deep appreciation of how well my home holds up to the wear and tear of kids, pets, and life. The little hardware choices, trim designed and cut just right, paint and other finishes, these are hundreds of little decisions your PM/LC makes on your behalf. They doesn't matter much for the photos, but really impact how it feels to live in your home. And several years post-remodel, I can say my home feels great. (Thank you, JC!) I could go on and on, but in summary: excellent experience, wholeheartedly recommend, would hire them again!

When my wife and I were looking for a contractor to handle the first project for our 1901 Capitol Hill home, we wanted to find a partner who would care for it as if it were their own. Blue Sound initially stood out for us in the level of effort they made to understand us and our goals and also in the confidence we felt in their ability to achieve them. Four projects later we are only more impressed. Honestly, we didn’t know a contractor could be this good! Ben and his team are craftsmen in the fullest sense of the word. They are honest, transparent, respectful, collaborative, kind, cheerful and oh-so-easy to work with. Every single member of their team is committed to doing an amazing job every, single, time. And their deep knowledge enabled them to make excellent recommendations about what we should do and who we should use to do it. Whenever unexpected difficulties arose, we always received a timely phone call to talk through our options, including lots of creative and pragmatic solutions. We are now at the point where we just say “Do what you think is best” because we know they’ll make the right call. And this confidence extends to the tradesmen that Blue Sound engages with, including some amazing painters, designers, and architects that they’ve brought in. Blue Sound stands behind the quality of their work, even now, seven years later. And, I am looking forward to the next project we do with Ben and his team.

We have used Blue Sound Construction for several projects and I cannot recommend them enough. The craftsmanship of their work is beautiful, attentive to detail and of the highest quality.
