I would highly recommend Wise Design & Remodeling. First, we approached them with no idea what we wanted to do with our kitchen/den space. It was old, it was outdated, and the layout was atrocious, so we came to them to initially give us ideas. They ultimately provided 3 layout options (one on the lower end of our price range, one in the middle ground, and one on the higher end). In hindsight, this is exactly what we needed to move this project forward. Options. It gave us the freedom to choose and direction we needed.

We ended up going with the more middle of the road option and are incredibly happy with the result. Our kitchen is beautiful, and it is now my (the husband) favorite place to spend time in our house. Honestly, I love doing dishes and cleaning up after meals now because of what Wise turned our space into. The difference it has made is remarkable.

To be clear, the process was not perfect. There were hiccups along the way, but ultimately the entire crew at Wise (Phil, Tim, Jason, Kim, Johnny, and all their contractors) were very communicative and transparent with everything that was going on with our house/project. And when a problem popped up, they were 100% pragmatic in finding a reasonable solution. Their highest priority is getting you the end result you were hoping for and ultimately are happy with.

We also had them replace several massive windows in our home primarily because we were confident in the quality of work they were doing. This was in addition to our kitchen/den remodel. We did not have them do the work because we felt any pressure to have it done, but because we felt good about the work they were doing and knew these other things needed to be done soon so why not have them do it?

I will also note that they provide at 12 month check in where they come back to visit the property/project 12 months out from completion and discuss anything that has been a problem, been faulty, or just wasn't what you anticipated. So not only are they determined to provide you what you hoped for, but they come back in a year and make sure their work is holding up. That is the definition of standing behind your work and your products.

We did a basement and an upstairs Bathroom remodel with Wise Design. This was the first time we have done a major home renovation in our 1950s home. Phil and Team not only did a great job, but they were phenomenal to work with. Phil’s team is professional, courteous, and easy to work with and provided strong guidance throughout the process. In addition, the contractors they use are the same and it felt like one big team. We did our remodel while we were expecting our first child and Phil and Team drew up a plan to get the jobs as completed as possible before the baby arrived around the year-end holidays. We really appreciated the Wise Design team staying true to their expected timeline so that there would be minimal house impact when our son arrived. Moreover, we enjoyed being able to monitor the project timeline on the builder trend app where we could clearly see who was coming and when and progress photos along the way. The basement remodel added a lot more livable space to our smaller home, and the bathroom remodel provided a much-needed refresh from the prior old and dated look. We would definitely recommend Wise Design as Phil and Team will treat you fairly and with kindness.

Our renovation with Wise Design and Remodel included a complete kitchen gut, custom cabinets, new hardwoods throughout the main level, a refreshed mudroom and basement finishing work. We chose Wise Design and Remodel based on the creative options, experience and expertise provided by the owner, Phil Hide, to help us think about our space for both function and design. Phil guided us through each step in the process, understanding the importance of family-friendly (and pet-friendly) designs for our main floor living spaces. We appreciated that Phil took the time to share trade offs and realistic costs associated with the options along the way. We also loved the ability to log into the BuilderTrend portal, which housed key documents, tracked schedules and project milestones, tracked to-do's and change orders, recorded key decisions, and allowed us to follow along with daily pictures. The overall level of project visibility through Phil and BuilderTrend was extremely helpful as we ended up moving out during the remodel (due to COVID and a living space option across town). The crew was reliable, trustworthy, cleaned up after themselves and produced great quality work. Phil was an expert project manager, with the project finishing ahead of schedule despite navigating the global pandemic. We love our new space and cannot thank Wise Design and Remodel for creating a functional space our family and friends will enjoy for years to come!
