Dan and his crew did an amazing job on our kitchen remodel. We stayed right on budget, and any issues that came up (as they do with any project) were handled quickly and professionally. We’re extremely happy with the results and would absolutely work with him again.
We found Dan through recommendations because we specifically needed a contractor experienced with VA-related projects. Our goal was to make our home accessible — a downstairs bathroom, porch, and office made to bedroom— so my husband, a veteran living with ALS, could safely move around and maintain some independence. We first contacted Dan at the end of 2024, and demolition began in early 2025. From that point on, the project became an ongoing and exhausting headache. Communication was consistently poor and at times completely nonexistent. Messages were frequently ignored for days or weeks, and we were often left without updates, timelines, or follow-through.The bathroom was finally completed around June 2025, and the porch was not finished until September 2025, despite repeated assurances that the work would be completed much sooner. Throughout this time, it was clear — based on what we could see— that he and his company were working on multiple other projects simultaneously, while ours was repeatedly delayed. We paid out of pocket to ensure this work could move forward in a timely manner, yet we were still treated as if our project was not a priority. That lack of urgency and care felt especially disrespectful given the circumstances: this was not a cosmetic remodel, but essential accessibility work for a disabled veteran living with a progressive, terminal illness. What made this experience most disappointing was not just the delays, but the lack of accountability, transparency, and basic communication. When you are working with families in situations like ours, professionalism and respect are not optional.Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend Dan or Advanced Construction LLC to anyone needing reliable, compassionate, and communicative work — especially for accessibility projects where timelines and trust truly matter.
Our experience with this contractor was deeply disappointing and frustrating. During the course of our remodel, we discovered that work from other customer projects was being done inside our home, which raised serious concerns about professionalism and oversight.Several issues required correction, including a plumbing problem where the shower leaked into our crawlspace. The contractor did address the leak, but we were left concerned that the wall insulation might still be damp. We also experienced electrical work that caused burning on part of a wall, caulking that was not the proper anti-mold type, and paint already chipping on our kitchen cabinets. Even small details that were promised - like properly securing the soft-close cabinet bumpers - were not completed, leaving drawers and cabinets sticky.Project management was also very poor. We frequently had to track timelines and corrections ourselves, and communication was often defensive rather than collaborative. After the majority of our payment had been made, we were not contacted for at least a week and a half, even though we still couldn't live in our main home at that point. When we expressed concern about the lack of communication, we were told that expecting regular updates was not part of standard business practice. We also felt pressured to provide final payment before the work was fully completed, despite our ongoing concerns about quality and follow-through.In addition, we were told certain electrical changes "weren't possible," only for our licensed electrician to later correct them easily and confirm that they should never have been represented that way.We feel we paid more with the expectation of professional project management and high-quality workmanship, but the results did not meet those standards. Based on our experience, I would advise potential clients to be extremely diligent before proceeding with this contractor and to ensure all commitments are clearly documented and verified before final payment.
We are completing an ADU build with Advanced Construction and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. We have done our share of DYI remodels and were not sure what to expect from a completely new build but the experience was awesome and they handled everything! Dan has been incredible to work with, understood our vision perfectly and every detail has been better than imagined. All the subcontractors he works with have been very nice and worked quickly but also with great craftsmanship. Dan was able to work around our busy schedule and was super responsive to our questions and calls along the process. We highly recommend them to anyone!
Daniel and his team worked on two basement apartments, aka an ADU.first off, the work is high quality craftsmanship! My apartments are so beautiful! In addition, he dealt with all of the permits during a slow time in Portland. The work was efficient once permits were received. He also dealt with all of the permits required for prior work that was done incorrectly. This was a challenge. He also dealt with all aspects of electrical and hvac and water with separate meters. Both apartments look brand new even though the homes are 100 years old and the work was done without any issues. You will be more than satisfied with your final product! When there was an issue the first couple of months after the project was complete, he had his subcontractor fix the issue. He found additional supplies and came to a fair agreement with me.He communicates daily, the work is solid and the price is very reasonable. He wants to ensure you are happy with the finished product. The only improvements were the amount of time, although this appeared to be due primarily to PDX slow permit processing and mediating the final issues directly after the project was complete.I appreciated his honesty and willing to talk through any issue that arises over the course or 9 months. I would highly recommend he and his crew! This is my 4th remodel and I would go with Advanced Construction if I were to do another project!
